Ratio Update Interval?

Are the UL/DL stats supposed to be constantly up to date or are they updated at a certain interval?
The reason I'm asking is that I uploaded a torrent today to try to get my ratio up, and have seeded over 900 MB, but my UL stat has not increased.

Each torrent is running on it's own schedule and the update interval is 30 minutes. It can be broken by a STOP than a minute later restart of the torrent. The stop should update the tracker.

many clients allow manual announce. normally it's not needed to do it manually, unless you want to test if the function works properly.
