Apple Under Fire For Approving 'Gay Cure' iPhone App From Exodus International

Apple is under fire for approving a controversial iPhone app created by a religious organization that seeks to help gay individuals become heterosexual.

The application, "Exodus International," was created by a ministry of the same name that says its mission is to "[mobilize] the body of Christ to minister grace and truth to a world impacted by homosexuality."

The app's description notes, "With over 35 years of ministry experience, Exodus is committed to encouraging, educating and equipping the Body of Christ to address the issue of homosexuality with grace and truth."

It received a "4" rating from Apple, which indicates the company considered the app to contain "no objectionable material."

Yet many disagree with Apple's assessment and are demanding that it be removed.

"No objectionable content? We beg to differ," wrote TruthWinsOut.com. "Exodus' message is hateful and bigoted."

Change.org has launched an online petition calling for Apple to remove the app that has garned over 21,000 "signatures."

I do NOT have an iPhone so here is my question:
Is this app already on the phone by default, or do you have to actually add it to your phone?

In all fairness, there are probably tons of gay friendly apps like: RECON or SCRUFF, HRC? etc that one can get, that
could possibly offend members of this group, and these same members might appreciate the app on their phone, so
unless you are FORCED to have it on YOUR phone, I don't understand the problem.

In light of the recent ruling on the WBC, doesn't this fall under the same category?

No, it's one that you have to personally add.

HOWEVER, they do not allow racist or anti-semitic apps for any reason, EVER!!!! They also labelled this app as "non offensive".

So, we {generic} can spread hate, as long as it's hate toward groups Apple think deserve it.

Thanks raphjd; I've done a little more research on what Exodus is about, and
if it maintained more of a Alcoholics Anonymous kind of purpose, then
I would not have seen a problem with an app, but I find they fall in line with
all other hate groups, and am quite surprised at Apple for allowing the app.

Makes me wonder, if Apple does nothing, will everyone switch to an Android?
