Why?

Change is fine if it is an IMPROVEMENT,
but this "upgrade" doesn't make any sense to me at all....
Am I the only one who feels this way?

@Hampie I was one of the members invited to early access, to provide some real usage to spot any bugs, etc. I spent the first two days hating it, and switching back to the old site version after a few minutes into each site visit.
I still don't really like the current "close to the original" torrent layout, even though @joker went out of his way to accommodate one or two of my suggestions. After a while of that, I grudgingly tried the new grid layout.
Now, I wouldn't go back if you paid me. Well... I might. How much are we talking?

@Hampie 95% of the time I usually hate changes like this, but I'm loving the new site. Runs smoothly... I am easily able to access features that were confusing for me before. I love having access to the forum. I really appreciate all the improvements.
I only kind of wish they would change the icon lol
I mean I just don't like the way it looks in my browser tabs. -
I have written a longer word about the redesign — where it came from, what has been rebuilt, and what is next: https://community.gaytor.rent/topic/69312

@Hampie Me too, not happy with how it is supposed to work, I'm confused and cannot get it working as I would like, and did try to send message to the Help section, but don't know if it actually went there as there was nothing saying it did>>>
While I do understand there needs to be improvement and updates to sites from time to time, I honest cannot work this one out....and I'm an oldie, yep as a user of site, and in age.
Is there a way to go back to the older site look?? -

Is there a way to go back to the older site look??There is no going back. The code bases were totally different, and the old site has been taken offline.
Learning new ways of doing things is always hard - and the older you are, and the longer you've been doing it just one way - the harder it is to make the changes.
But - if you don't want this site to DIE, many of these changes were needed. What's that you say? 2006 code works just fine in 2026? Tell that to Windows XP or MacOS Tiger! (neither of which can even run on modern hardware!)
I know its frustrating - but be patient - with yourself AND the site! I'm 62 - change doesn't come easy to me... but I see the value here... esp in the long-term viability of the site!
And use the bug reporting function and/or the helpdesk page to ask for help if you can't seem to figure it out! We (Staff) are here to help! (And we haven't had a pay raise since 2006! LOL)

@Playmate
Must be our age then..... 1957 here

@Playmate What in particular are you having a problem with? I'd be more than happy to walk you through not only how to navigate the site and forum, but also show you how to customize things to make them more to your liking.
For example, did you know that while the old site itself is gone, there are many things that you can customize to make the new site work and feel much like the old site? These are all things that can be done within your settings, so if you can point me to what specifically you are struggling with, I can help get you setup.

this is good update. its modern and we live in 2026

maybe its not good for you but its good for new era, new ppl, coming in and they appreciate it

@jokuihmemies i am old here and i appreciate it very much!! people are desperate like the site is gonna be a mess for another 20 years when Joker is working day and night to make it the best possible for everyone. Things might look very different out of the box but there are settings that can be tweaked to make it look like it was before, people just need to take their time to read and observe.

@ianfontinell Exactly. He's even gone to great lengths to ensure that for the people who don't like change, there are ways of making the site look, feel, and behave in an eerily similar manner to the old site design, while at the same time having all up to date coding in a much newer version of PHP so that it will remain functional for the long term.
Part of the problem was that the version of PHP that the old site ran on is getting to the end-of-life stage of support, meaning as the server OS updates, it will no longer support the old version, which would render the site useless more or less. If we did not at least do some updates to the site to make it run in a newer version of PHP, eventually the site would have stopped working completely.
So while he was at it, he added a lot of bad ass features and customization options to do what I think is a damn fine job at making sure there's a setting for everything for just about everyone. You can't please everyone, but you can come pretty damn close with the customization options that are now available.
