      Every (half) hours I get this (see picture) message.
      My mail adress is flooded with it.
      I've never requested to change or confirm my email adress so I wonder what's happening and if I'm the only one.
      I just keep deleting them....... any ideas what else I can do ?

        I received one of these yesterday. I'm normally fairly cautious about clicking unrequested email links, and it seemed a little strange as I'd not attempted to change my email address here.

        However, after a little consideration and investigation, I decided to "verify my address". Clicking the link took me to (what appeared to be) a genuine gaytor.rent forum address with a thank you message.

        I suspect the request was generated by some of the update work going on, or maybe because although I've been a member of the main site for ages, I've only recently gained forum access after the logon issues were resolved.

        I can't be absolutely certain, obviously, but it seems genuine to me.

          I still don't understand this, even though it's a legitimate request, the forum doesn't have any option in the settings to set or change your email, it is directly tied to the address used in the main site. If it was a scam I'd be less confused about it 😅

            @ianfontinell Yeah. That's what I spent ages puzzling over. Had I - perhaps accidentally - tried to change my email address? Had I changed something else which also incorporated a need for it to be reconfirmed. I spent ages looking for such a possibility, but could find none.

            Yet, as you say, it seems totally legitimate.

              @Kevin4fm

              With every precaution possible I've clicked on the thingy in the email like you did.
              It worked (sort of): now I only get the same email every 45 minutes instead of every 30 minutes. 😁

                Hey guys — thanks for raising this, and sorry for the hassle it's caused.

                First, the important bit: this is not a scam or phishing, and your accounts are safe. Those "confirm your email" messages were being sent out by our own forum by mistake — a glitch had it firing off confirmation emails over and over, even though none of you asked for anything. You didn't do anything wrong, and there was never anything you actually needed to click.

                I've fixed it on our end, so they'll stop. If one or two still trickle in right after this, just ignore them — they were already on their way before the fix went in. Next time you open the forum your address gets squared away automatically, and that's the end of it.

                And @ianfontinell nailed it: your email here is tied to your main account on the site — there's nothing to set or change on the forum side, so anything asking you to "verify" it here was never something you had to act on.

                Thanks again for flagging it, and for being cautious with those links in the first place — that's exactly the right instinct. If anything else looks off, give me a shout.
