Massive difference between ratios and upload speeds on two different sites

Maybe somone can enlighten me, I really do not know what is going on.
Some torrents I post on gay-torrents.net, some I post here. The themes are the same so the amount of audience should not make a big difference when it comes to leechers.
When I post at gay-torrents.net, my uploads speeds reach 50mb/s and my ratio goes up to 200 for that torrent in 2 days.
I tested and posted the same torrent here and the uploads barely reach 200kb/sec and the ratio goes up to around 5 if at all.
I use qbittorrent, and the only issue I have is with torrents I upload here.
Any idea what could be going on?

@dwpk20 I also belong to that other site, and I notice the same thing (using uTorrent 3.5.5 here). My share ratio there is about 20, while here it's about 7. I can't offer an explanation; I only post this to affirm your observation.

I've noticed a similar discrepancy with downloads. I see insane download speeds from .net, while here my downloads run significantly slower even if there is a much larger swarm. I've asked if I've got something set wrong in my client, but the only suggestion was to ensure that port-forwarding is set up properly..
Maybe I've misunderstood, but my understanding is that port-forwarding relates to routing traffic to the right local IP for a particular application/port, and the source of the incoming packets is irrelevant, leaving me wondering if some trackers are just inherently slower than others. I'd love to hear some insights.

@frostycab Actually, because of how our tracker differs from most, port forwarding is essential as we do not support passive nodes. This means that without the port your torrent client uses being forwarded through your home network or VPN to your computer (both in TCP and UDP), getting proper upload traffic can be rather difficult.

I think I'm set up OK here--I can upload and download, and I have a green check icon in the uTorrent tray. Is there a simple way to check/fix port forwarding (perhaps already handled in another thread?) I've searched online for information and I get very lengthy dissertations on port forwarding, most of which end with the recommendation that I buy their software for 30 USD or so. I'm hesitant to buy and run executables from companies I've never heard of.
Over the years I've gone through a couple of machines, several uTorrent versions, and I'm on my fourth router. It wouldn't surprise me if my migrated settings were sub-optimal.

@eobox91103 You shouldn't need software to do port forwarding. It varies widely from one router to another. Simply put, you login to your router's admin console webpage and go through your NAT settings. As a general rule, I also recommend binding your computer's MAC address to a dedicated IP address in your router's DHCP settings as well so that you don't have to adjust your port forwarding every so often as the IP address changes.
The most comprehensive method I know of is portforward.com
