Being an Asian man living in Asian country, the stereotype as in all stereotype is generally true for some.
Asians' search for people to date are divided into 3 categories:
1. Those who idolized white men.
2. Those who stick with their own race (a.k.a keeping pureblood).
3. Those who are open to any.Asian who idolized white men, and date exclusively with them, are ones who watch too much media. They watch them so much that their idea of an adonis has been shaped into the hunky, tall, white teeth and charming white men with beard. The idea of being good looking has led them to believe that only dating with white men can make them happy. This kind of Asian will fall into the "desperate" Asians who are willing to date (much) older white men. This may also have to do with Asian culture where they perceive people who has white skin are beautiful. Sure white men has different kind of white as Asian's white (milk/porcelain-like kind of white) but it's still white.
Asians are pretty diverse, and they don't always like each other. We have the whiter Asian (chinese, japanese, korean), then we have a darker Asian (malaysian, thai, philippines) and then we also have the darkest Asian (india, arab, some chinese/japanese/korean are born with darker skin). Some of the whiter Asian tend to avoid dating with darker Asian, as again, we are culturally raised to be successful by our family, and darker skin usually equals more outdoor work (which means poor people).
It's all about stereotypes, really. Living in Asian country, I date Asian all the time though I would like to try to date white guys as well.

I know many Asian guys, and all of them like dark Indian and Pakistani, Middle Eastern, European and Latino guys. None of them once said he liked another Asian!

I'm an Asian and I have my preferences but if you like/love someone, I think that transcends age or race. Personally, I like my men with dark skin tone.
Beauty is subjective; I'd still go out with someone who has a good personality regardless of their age and physical appearance or skin color.

Well, I'm Asian and have a bad case of hair fetish… so that rules most other Asians out; though the odd hairy Asian have turned my head once or twice.
As for older men, it is intelligence that I find attractive - Someone who has worldly knowledge, his head screwed on, experience and preferably a vocabulary of more than 10 words.
I like men, not boys.Give me a rugged man, an apple and some rope and we are set for a party!

I'm an Asian American and if I'm being honest, I can see why some Asians prefer white guys over other Asians. I think it's due to the dearth of attractive Asian men in the media. Honestly, I can say I've met more attractive Asians in real life than I have seen attractive Asians in media(be it porno, film, tv, or ad, or magazines). That makes it hard to prefer Asians when all you see is attractive white people in the media. Western culture seems to like perpetuating the stereotype that we Asians are nerdy, submissive, and boring. That and the small penis stereotype makes Asians seem like the opposite of this masculine ideal we have, which makes Asians appear very unattractive to whites and Asians alike. Personally, I would never date someone who was old or ugly just because he was white. I feel like that type of Asian doesn't exist anymore though. At least, not in my generation. When I see an old white guy with a younger Asian, the Asian is generally very feminine and unattractive for me. I find that our generation of Asians is more "americanized", and frankly, more good looking; I see a lot of hot Asians in my classes and such, and it can make you appreciate the attractive features Asians can have. I prefer both races equally; it's more about attractiveness for me. I also can't stand the idea of "rice queens" because I feel they like you just because you're Asian, and they want you to act a certain way(i.e. submissive bottom bitch). Same phenomenon that can be seen in white men that exclusively date Asians.

I'm an Asian American but I find that many people in Vietnam on dating apps are looking for older white men, specifically sugar daddies, so some of it could be a money thing. Tried the sugar daddy thing, didn't like it. Although, I definitely was getting more hits from older white men when I was younger.
And up until 4 years ago, I was attracted to everything but Asians. Come to find out I was looking in ALL the wrong places lol
FYI my husband of 8 years is black so this is definitely not always true
