First of all it is not AIDS, the main virus is HIV. You can't catch or get AIDS withouth having first been infected with HIV. So truthfully the answer to your question is YES. AIDS does not live outside the body (the only way for someone to have AIDS instead of HIV is for an infant to be born with it due to they have no immune system when they are first born).

Just to point out a technicality… The CDC defines AIDS as having a CD4 count below 200. An advanced case of HIV can drop the CD4 count below 200, however there are other things that can do this as well, including some cancers such as a lymphoma blastoma. So technically, while AIDS by medical definition does not technically require the presence of HIV, the two generally do go hand in hand, once it progresses to an advanced enough stage.

The risk of contraction either way from any form of oral sex (such as a blowjob) is virtually nonexistent. That being said, when it comes to anal sex, the risk depends on a few factors. The most important of these is the person's viral load. If they both maintain an undetectable viral load, there is no risk of transmission of a new strain from one partner to the other.

By the same token, as long as the person who is HIV+ maintains an undetectable viral load, the risk of transmission to the partner is HIV free is nonexistent.

Also, the higher the viral load, the greater the risk. Generally speaking, anything under 50,000 carries a minimal risk, and it goes up from there.

Two different questions:

1. Can a top get infected.
YES. It may be a bit more difficult but it happens all the time.

2. Can you get infected from a bodily fluid ending up on bleeding skin?
I asked this back in the 90s when I was heavily into the Punk scene. Dancing could scrape your skin and expose you to other people's blood. The research indicated that the virus has to enter the blood stream in a significant amount to cause an infection. ie. Getting stabbed with a blade or injecting drugs or vigorous fucking to push the virus past the blood pressure pushing blood out of the body through broken skin or the tendency for surface wounds to clot quickly. So cumming on top of a scratch (pausing for a moment :puke:) won't do it.
Fight Club on the other hand… not a good idea.

HIV can live 9 hours outside the body. I'm a lab tech and have studied this disease intensely. Being gay and active, I need to know these facts. The viral disinfectants work within 10-15 minutes. The best choice is bleach. Obviously, there isn't any effective disinfectant that can be used on mucous membranes. All you can do is get tested regularly and use precaution. BTW, there is some theory that semen in the mouth is safe. The enzymes in saliva "might" inactivate the virus. Spitting doesn't matter. Don't take the chance. Personally, I hate the taste of rubber/latex. I would hate the illness more. Oh, yeah, I forgot. Pre-cum can carry the virus, too. Any questions? Feel free to ask. I've studied STD's in depth since 1982 when my best friend died needlessly.
