In 1985 I came out in high school when I was about 15ish.

I kept trying to change it till about 20, then I just accepted it coming out to everyone after.

Oddly, my super religious Catholic family was super supportive but my Backwards Baptist other side rejected me utterly.

Coming out to my family (indirectly) at the age of 28. They knew.

It's a process - I came out to my best friend when I was 14 (1975), I came out to my family when I was 17 (1978), I've been functionally out to EVERYONE since I moved back to Canada in 1986 (I was 25).

If I added up the tines I "came out" – once in grade school at age 12, to several friends in high school, to roommates and study buddies in college, and in the working world -- it would be a multitude of years.

To me, it's not a single point on a lifeline, but I might just interpret "coming out" in a different fashion than most.

                                  Same situation.

I regard myself as 'Out' now but it was a process:Β  coming out to myself, coming out to trusted friends, coming out to my family, being out in the workplace.

I think of myself as living out now but there are new people I meet who aren't informed yet.

I dislike the concept of the Glass Closet where celebrities aren't actually 'Out' until they make an announcement on the cover of a magazine.
