Forget about Obama being black. I don't have a problem with black. However, it is inconceivable to me that a man with the name Barack Hussein Obama (aka Barry Soetoro) who was raised in Indonesia as a muslim until the age of 13 could ever become president.
I was just pointing out that liberals played the race card to guilt people into voting for Obama.
They did the same thing with the sex card for Hillary.
We can't vote for the best candidate, we have to vote based on their oppression status. According to liberals, that is.

What you say may be true, but the converse is also true. How many people did not vote for Obama because he was black? How many people chose to "otherize" him and claim he was not a citizen because he was black? How many could not bring themselves to vote for Hillary, no matter how moderate they were or how much they hated Trump simply because she was a woman? The voting for the best candidate argument runs both ways.

It's the same reason I didn't vote for Obama the 2nd time. Well, that and all the lies he told.

Of the people who voted for Obama because he was black, not all did so to promote "black power," but to see a barrier come down. Similarly, the ones who voted for Hillary because she was a woman, were not all staunch feminists, but wanted to make history.

Unfortunately most voters are shallow. They vote on looks, sound bites, geographical region and other characteristics that have nothing to do with ability.
In fact a poll done in June 2016 showed that 18% of Trump supporters did not feel he was qualified to be president.

If there was a poll about how qualified Hillary's vagina (not Hillary the person) is, I'm sure liberals would have polled at nearly 100%.
Same with Obama's blackness.

Trump's calling card was his lack of qualifications. He was supposed to drain the swamp and bring a refreshing air of honesty and openness to the presidency. Look where that has gotten us in just six months.
You imply that rave and gender were the only qualifications help by Obama and Hillary. Even if the argument was made, I doubt anyone on the left successfully bullied anyone into voting for Obama under the treat of being called a racist. Similarly, Similarly, I highly doubt anyone voted for Hillary for fear of being called out by the feminists. -

I may not have a clue, but you only hear what you want. Maybe Google was not indexing articles well in 2008, but I can't even find a conservative rag that makes your accusation. In fact, a lot more was written about Blacks voting for him simply because he was black. If there were people who refused to vote for him because he was black, liberals would be the last people on earth they would listen to. The Same goes for Hillary and women. Much was made about the women who supported Trump, even after the Access Hollywood tape.

You are driving the discussion further off topic instead of trying to guide it back. Again you misrepresent the views of liberals on this board. The "defense" of Islam here has been that it is fundamentally a religion based on peaceful principles and that the majority of muslims are peaceful. No one has argued that every muslim was peaceful–in fact just the opposite by emphasizing that the entire group should not be judged by the actions of a few.
By implicitly comparing mhorndisk's rant to jihad has nicely made my point. -

The ancient texts are far less important than how they are interpreted and integrated into the modern religion. Jihadists have taken a literal interpretation of parts of the Quran that are not shared by its majority, much in the same way the fundamentalist Christians use the bible to support their extreme political views.
