The ancient texts are far less important than how they are interpreted and integrated into the modern religion. Jihadists have taken a literal interpretation of parts of the Quran that are not shared by its majority, much in the same way the fundamentalist Christians use the bible to support their extreme political views.

I was an extremely active member of Skeptics Annotated Bible and helped with the project.    So YES, I have read the bible, as well as most religions' holy texts.

Most Muslims are peaceful.  Thee are a few bad oranges here and there.

I understand why you say that.  Let me explain by presenting an example that has taken place many times.
You have a very peaceful muslim family.  But then the daughter does something blasphemous such as shaving off her facial hair.  Then the father pours acid on her face and gouges out her eyes.  They are peaceful as long as nothing is done to disturb their fragile peace.  They lack tolerance and forgiveness.

You are driving the discussion further off topic instead of trying to guide it back. Again you misrepresent the views of liberals on this board.  The "defense"  of Islam here has been that it is fundamentally a religion based on peaceful principles and that the majority of muslims are peaceful. No one has argued that every muslim was peaceful–in fact just the opposite by emphasizing that the entire group should not be judged by the actions of a few.

If there was a poll about how qualified Hillary's vagina (not Hillary the person) is, I'm sure liberals would have polled at nearly 100%.

I may not have a clue, but you only hear what you want.  Maybe Google was not indexing articles well in 2008, but I can't even find a conservative rag that makes your accusation. In fact, a lot more was written about Blacks voting for him simply because he was black. If there were people who refused to vote for him because he was black, liberals would be the last people on earth they would listen to.  The Same goes for Hillary and women.  Much was made about the women who supported Trump, even after the Access Hollywood tape.

That's still voting for their "oppression" status, not their ability.

Unfortunately most voters are shallow.  They vote on looks, sound bites, geographical region and other characteristics that have nothing to do with ability.
In fact a poll done in June 2016 showed that 18% of Trump supporters did not feel he was qualified to be president.

Of the people who voted for Obama because he was black, not all did so to promote "black power," but to see a barrier come down.  Similarly, the ones who voted for Hillary because she was a woman,  were not all staunch feminists, but  wanted to make history.

It's the same reason I didn't vote for Obama the 2nd time.  Well, that and all the lies he told.

Forget about Obama being black.  I don't have a problem with black.  However, it is inconceivable to me that a man with the name Barack Hussein Obama (aka Barry Soetoro) who was raised in Indonesia as a muslim until the age of 13 could ever become president.

:true: Bringing her up in an argument to justify the current president's actions severely weakens the argument. How can someone justify a president's actions by asking, "But what about the candidate who lost during the election that has now been over for 8 months?" It's ridiculous and is not a valid argument at this point. Super PAC does not equal presidential power and influence. In my opinion, we have a corrupt president and his name is not Hillary Clinton.
