I haven't seen anyone be anti trans people.

What I have seen is people be anti "look at me, I'm pretending to be trans" people.

"Poll: Rename Category - “Shemale” to Transgender" - https://community.gaytor.rent/index.php?topic=48999.msg265188#msg265188

Well you can pretty much forget about this.

This is not gonna happen, as clearly this forum is not accepting of trans people.

Which is why we as gay men are never gonna improve by the way.

Well, Domosuke, regardless…one’s personal “feeling” towards transgender people has no bearing on what really needs to be resolved--it shouldn't anyway. Same with the comments and results at my forum post and poll requesting/suggesting the category rename–opinions specific to my choice.

        None of that should matter.

Renaming the particular category is something the site should be addressing anyway--“Shemale”--a term deemed no longer fitting.

“Defamatory: "tranny," "she-male," "he/she," "it," "shim"
These words dehumanize transgender people and should not be used in mainstream media. The criteria for using these derogatory terms should be the same as those applied to vulgar epithets used to target other groups: they should not be used except in a direct quote that reveals the bias of the person quoted. So that such words are not given credibility in the media, it is preferred that reporters say, "The person used a derogatory word for a transgender person." Please note that while some transgender people may use "tranny" to describe themselves, others find it extremely offensive.” - GLAAD Media Reference Guide - Transgender - http://www.glaad.org/reference/transgender

Consider these two current category names as examples–“Black” and “Asian”--I’m pretty sure “Negro” and “Oriental” wouldn’t go over too well.

So, whether you like my suggestion or have one of your own–Vote for Change!

I was one of the main supporters on that thread to get the "Shemale" category changed. I voted to change the name.

You and I both were shunned to kingdom come for that.

The thread then went cold sadly, and it's assumed for the most part the operations of this forum have no interest to change it at this time, and it's sad, but what can you do?

I also agreed with a name change.

However, "shemale" has long been a specific type of porn so I can see why some people might be against a change.

              @raphjd:

LOL,  the mental gymnastic needed to even ask that question.

Watch the various interviews, she's not masculine in the slightest and her clothes are also feminine.

Why would an openly trans boy wear girls' clothes on a daily basis?!

You're right.  Maybe she's a trans boy cross dresser.

OR, maybe she's the girly girl she always presents as, and not actually trans anything.

A couple of questions for you:
              Why do you care?
              What does it matter?
What does this teen's gender identity materially impact in anyone's day to day life?

Because it's shit like this that causes places like NYC, Canada and others to punish people and businesses for accidentally misgendering someone.    NYC, for example, punishes businesses $125,000 each time they accidentally misgender a person, and $250,000 each time if it was on purpose.  How the fuck is anyone supposed to guess that this girly girl claims she's a boy?

See above.  Also, it has caused problems at the same school for the real trans person.

                Again, see above.

                  Identity politics are cancer.

They tend to reduce people to one specific element of their being, erasing all others. Playing the game of identity politics always ends in something that is rapidly spiraling out of control, it never gets better, it only gets worse.

I've seen people bash transgenders, because they didn't subscribe to the mindset, apparently you can only call yourself a transgender these days if you have the correct social and political views, if you deviate you get branded a traitor to the cause. It's something we can see all over the place, the most obvious examples are all the sites out there who run opinion pieces on how we should consider certain people as people, because they have a differing political view.

You cannot and shouldn't reduce people to one characteristic, it's demeaning and it sends the wrong signal.

You can be gay and vote for Trump, you can be transgender and be conservative, you can be a woman and play videogames. One element is not the be-all end-all of your identity.

however, it creeps me out to see a guy with a vagina!  eek!

True as that may be, it still doesn't change the fact that there are guys with a vagina–"Shemale"--both incorrect and inappropriate in terms of gender identification

This is false. I live in NYC. No business has been fined for accidentally misgendering someone. You can be fined for deliberately misgendering someone repeatedly after they've made their pronouns clear to you, although this has yet to happen.

Again: how does this impact you?

For every law there is always going to be someone who is going to push the boundaries and challenge it.  I don't know this persons entire story but it sounds like the school made very reasonable accomodations for her.  Her actions do real harm to the millions of people who legitimately just want to take a piss.

                                That's my point.

The real trans at the school was ignored (in a good way) and everyone went about their business as usual, nobody cared.    Then Elliot Cope jumps on the trans trander bandwagon and things changed for the worse.

I don't know anyone who cares about real trans people (not in a bad way).  Though I know a lot, including real trans people, who hate trans trenders and self proclaimed gender terrorists.

Identity politics hurts all.  I'm a businessman, and my sexual orientation does not define the fact that my top priorities are for common sense tax and regulatory laws.  That's my top priority; not my sexual identity.  That's what keeps food on the plate and the mortgage paid.

In all business, you need to treat everyone with respect.  If you act like an ass towards your customers, they'll know, and you won't be in business very long.  So, as far as transgendered restrooms go, I get both sides of the argument.  Transgenders want to be treated with respect, while law enforcement has uses the gender identity of bathrooms in order to nail genuine perverts for Trespass, thereby kicking genuine perverts out of your business permanently.

Government needs to stay out of the businesses domain, and let the businesses behave according to the treat your customers respectfully rule, and the marketplace will take care of itself.  I'm sure I've had transgenders use a restroom that doesn't correspond with their gender at my business before: law of statistics, not verified knowledge.  There haven't been any problems.  People need to trust in common sense instead of hyping matters.  Common sense is a two way street.  We need to not look to push the envelope just to make virtue signalling points, and businesses need to treat us with respect because that's what businesses are suppose to do.  When this breaks down, the business will lose customers if they treat them disrespectfully, or gain customers if the virtue signalling garners a backlash.

Go back and read the threads here.   I linked to it before when we discussed Canada's version of the law.

Yeah, ok, you're not a modern liberal.

Canada's version of the law is not NYC's. NYC does not penalize unintentional misgendering.

I'm not a liberal. I am way to the left of whatever liberals stand for.

                                          So you're a communist.

According to the NYC law, you have to refer to my gender as attack helicopter and my name is Hillary Clinton.  None of that shit is on any ID I have, but fuck you, it's the law.

Too bad they didn't go modern liberal batshit crazy so I could demand you refer to me as a studly 18yo black attack helicopter named Hillary Clinton.

If you lived in NYC, I would respect your gender. The law says nothing about impersonating famous people however, and you would likely be subject to prosecution for identity theft.

I have to laugh at your hypocrisy. As a member of the right, you believe in small government, but you support that bathrooms are legally segregated by gender? Why not just have one bathroom for everyone and fuck regulating that shit?
