It's easy enough to hate on all the rehashing but unfortunately as a whole we want familiarity, it's one of the reasons the fast food industry thrives and it's why Hollywood keeps repackaging.  Part of the onus is on us, we have to demand and support original content.

Furthermore, Trekkies & Trekkers need to unite and wrestle the Star Trek franchise away from CBS & Paramount because what JJ 'turncoat' Lensflare & his cohorts have done to that vehicle is nothing short of criminal.

there's been very few remakes that i actually liked. a few, but not very many. Dawn of the Dead was probably one of my favorites lol. Carrie wasnt so bad. sometimes they could use a remake/reboot, other times it's like "eh…maybe dont touch a movie that's only a few yrs old?" lol

Far too many remakes. They really should come up with something new but not ruin old stuff by making crappy remakes or continuitations.

Can't wait for the new Ghostbusters. 😄

Too many remakes? Surely not. We've only had two versions of Jungle Book this year and then we have to wait until 2018 for the next planned one  😄

Personally it depends on how recently they remake/reboot something. The spiderman films are an example of too close to each other. I get fed up with films that are always giving you the origins of a character.
Sadly I thought the latest Star Wars film was a rehash of the first movies, I enjoyed it , but how many Death Star type things are we going to get. As has been mentioned, we like familiarity and they can almost guarantee the number of bums on seats with these remake/reboots.

:hehe: The problems with remakes is that there are more misses than hits

Reboots seem to promise easy money I guess. I'm not a big fan of rebooting/prequeling/sequeling everything that has ever been on TV.

Like said above: every second Superman/Batman has to have a new origin story. And they don't do single movies any more, they create franchises. Like with the new Ghostbuster, the new Independence Day or the newest Terminator, where they already planned sequels and spin-offs - before the movie is even out (to fail like in the three examples).

Or DC are planning for the next ten years even though the films are not good at all.

                        But I'm interested in the Westworld-Reboot. 😉
