I'm not a big fan of rebooting/prequeling/sequeling everything that has ever been on TV.

Like said above: every second Superman/Batman has to have a new origin story. And they don't do single movies any more, they create franchises. Like with the new Ghostbuster, the new Independence Day or the newest Terminator, where they already planned sequels and spin-offs - before the movie is even out (to fail like in the three examples).

Or DC are planning for the next ten years even though the films are not good at all.

But I'm interested in the Westworld-Reboot.

The spiderman films are an example of too close to each other. I get fed up with films that are always giving you the origins of a character.
Sadly I thought the latest Star Wars film was a rehash of the first movies, I enjoyed it , but how many Death Star type things are we going to get. As has been mentioned, we like familiarity and they can almost guarantee the number of bums on seats with these remake/reboots.

Furthermore, Trekkies & Trekkers need to unite and wrestle the Star Trek franchise away from CBS & Paramount because what JJ 'turncoat' Lensflare & his cohorts have done to that vehicle is nothing short of criminal.

On the other side however there where some pretty awful remakes and disastrous reboots. The most recent Craptastic 4 is the most prominent example.

Some of my favorite horror films are remakes :
The Crazies
Dawn of the Dead
The Hills Have Eyes
Piranha 3D

I respect the originals, and i'm sure that by the time they came out they were terrific, but i don't find them scary, but quite cheesy. If they can update a story, make it more serious, with a cast that i'm more familiar to, and remove the cheessynes, i'm all up for it…. if it's good, if not, i forget about it. I try not to make a big deal out of it.

I honestly feel like not a lot people care that most of the movies out right now are reboots and remakes. For me, it irks me. I think there's a lack of originality for screenwriters in Hollywood and a lack of risks being taken by producers. I WANT TO SEE MORE ORIGINAL SCREENPLAYS!

I could not have said it better myself. Perhaps if they were doing a bang up job with these remakes and reboots, I'd have a better opinion. But if you fail to make it better in any meaningful way, then what's the point? Straight porn is even worse. If I hear or see anymore titles like "This Ain't Happy Days" or "Not the Cosby's" I feel like I need to shove a fork in my eye. Can we get over all these parody movies of TV shows and films?

It's like there isn't a single new idea out there anymore in entertainment, period, no matter what type.

There are some classics that I would not ever like to be rebooted but in some other genres if the reboot is good you cannot help but like it. Sci-Fi Fantasy is one such genre which is inundated with reboots, so is this comic book genre (which frankly speaking is very bland). In these two genres I don't care who makes the movie for the Nth time, if at the end of the day it is worth spending two to three hours on it. I see it.
