The Helpdesk remained very quiet, no massive outcry about the chatbox been gone from the "Search" and "Home" pages. Only side issues related were creating tickets as far as I noticed.
Then Maybe have it be a profile option to enable it for those that do want it?
I liked the chatbox because a lot of new users who needed help with their ratio would ask how to improve it. When I saw this I would encourage them to upload a torrent an give them seed bonus, Chatting with users in the Chatbox is really the only way I used seedbonus given away nearly 17k of seedbonus just to random users in it.

surreydude makes a very good point. I didn't use the chat box directly but have answered quite a few queries via PM where people were struggling,
Now there is very little opportunity here to contact anyone

Man, I don't know what happened aside from "peeps were abusing". How? What could have possibly happened to kill a method of communication with the community?

What was the reason the chat room was removed?

Man, this is crazy. I'm logged in to the site almost all the time, but I just realized that chat was gone. Seems like it's been missing about two months now. If there ever was proof needed that sometimes I am not the most observant person, there it is. No wonder the forums have been so much more active.

I cannot mention many details, but it's sufficient to say that there were security reasons for the chat box being removed (at least for now). As we state very clearly in our terms, we are very committed to protecting the privacy of our users. We understand that removing the chat box is not exactly the most convenient method for our users, but it was necessary as at least a temporary measure in order to protect the privacy of our users.
