You meant they have ordered 5 years worth of the vaccine. The vaccine has a very short shelf life, so there is no way they could stockpile it. In fact, when the vaccines in the USA were quite scarce and being rationed by priorities, there were often situations where people were getting the vaccine even though they did not qualify it because they had vaccine available that was close to it's expiration date. They had to either use it or throw it away.

@serenity So, you trust fact-checkers who list something as FALSE when it is DISPUTED. We've discussed the various dirty deeds of fact-checkers. Tim Pool on YouTube has done several videos showing how fact-checkers blatantly lie or in many cases distort the claims so they can call them False. You have every right to believe proven liars.

@raphjd said in CDC now says Vaccinated are the ones spreading the new Delta variant.: @bi4smooth Lots of people got C-19 and never knew it, unless now you are gonna claim that Fauci and the CDC are liars., but only on this topic. This applies to both the vaccinated and unvaccinated. Hell, I could have had it 45 times before I was privileged enough to be allowed to get the shots. I could have had it 45 times since I got the vaccine. Only a fool doesn't believe that Bat Lady, Fauci and Bill Gate's Eco-Health created C-19 from the samples Bat Lady collected from that mine in 2009 after all the miners got sick. I do agree about the Indian variant being a mutated version of the one created in the lab. Well, depending on who you ask (and there isn't much evidence to back up either story - the Chinese have pretty well scorched the Earth trying to make sure we never know... which arguably might lean (even heavily) towards the man-made-accidental-release theory), the original COVID-19 was a man-made variant, or a nature-made variant... of a virus that Mother Nature put here first. Still, regardless of the origin of the FIRST one, the Alpha, Beta, Gamma, & Delta variants were all NATURE made... and you can't turn off Mother Nature, and she's a real bitch when it comes to making living things stronger/faster/better! And now, there's a new Lambda variant - they don't know much about it yet, but theoretically it could make Delta (which is the one responsible for the re-ignition of the pandemic) look like childs-play. (It could theoretically also be more like the others: Original, Alpha, Beta, etc...) Only time will tell. What we DO know is that Mother Nature is still hard at work trying to create a COVID-19 that successfully defends itself against the immune responses generated by the COVID-19 vaccines... and WHEN she succeeds, we start the vaccine development process all over again - and until we get new vaccines against these new viruses, we'll be helpless (and dying). In the meantime, I mask up when I'm in public... because, whether I'm vaxxed up or not, I don't want this bug in me! And I live in a hot-spot filled with "it's a freedom issue" idiots and assholes. What can I say: we're home to "Florida Man" and it's showing! One last thing: studies have shown that immunity from the original COVID-19 infection (derived from getting it - and, presumably, surviving it) does little to protect you against the Delta variant... your body's NATURAL immune response from that strain doesn't recognize the Delta variant as a different verse to the same song. Likewise the immunity derived from the AZ & J&J vaccines (which are based on COVID-19 DNA) are significantly reduced against the Delta variant. However, immunity derived from the mRNA vaccines seems to be still significantly effective against Delta - albeit not AS effective as against the original - but that is possibly because the Delta is so much more aggressive and virulent than the original to begin with... Regardless, the exciting thing about all of this is the effectiveness of the mRNA vaccines and their ability to trigger our immune systems to attack specific proteins... this could be used to treat HIV (its original intended target), some cancers, possibly even sickle-cell and leukemia! The research is new - and therefore, we shouldn't get our hopes up too much... but the efficacy of the mRNA against COVID-19 was expected to be in the 60-70% range... they never DREAMED it'd be in the 95-97% range (what it was against the original COVID-19 strain).... I've been saying for several years now: my grandchildren are going to live in wonderful (or possibly frightening) times: we're unlocking medicine and material science unlike any other time in human history... used properly, we could see many diseases and ailments completely wiped out! Used improperly, we could have new "tools of warfare" that will scare the pants off of you! We already live in interesting times (Chinese curse being the origin of that statement)... and they're not looking like they're going to get boring any time soon! That said, I think we should think about storing more than plant DNA in those arctic vaults... we should start storing significant human knowledge up there. IMHO, we're going to eventually kill ourselves - the human race will extinguish itself completely, or at least knock ourselves back to the stone-age. We should leave something for the "next thing" to get some of our technology: tools, materials - maybe not nuclear physics tho LOL! For a reference, read Larry Niven's old SciFi book: The Mote in God's Eye... a really good read, if you ask me! (advances in material science could include a frictionless toilet! LOL) Correction: The Mote in God's Eye was a collaboration between Larry Niven & Jerry Pournelle (link)

@raphjd said in CDC: 397 Children Suffered Heart Inflammation After COVID-19 Vaccine: @hubrys AH, so the change was fairly recent. I mean, they for some reason, could not make it clear for the previous year. Let's not forget that the WHO has also played politics with C-19. I'm sorry, but your characterization of the NIH, CDC, and WHO as making many of their public-health decisions based entirely for political reasons is myopic, cynical as f**k, and hyperbolic. - In other words, just like most of your other preposterous claims! LOL All 3 of these organizations are primarily staffed (though not necessarily LED) by SCIENTISTS who are seeking facts and truth, not political points. The politicians they support are the ones that give them the money to do their research. Most of these scientists are so focused on the science - not the politics. And sometimes they actually DO overlook the bad ways their discoveries can be used - because to them, knowledge is the goal... the ONLY goal. I will repeat: the Moderna mRNA technology was being developed pre-COVID-19 as a potential treatment or vaccine against HIV. That research continues, and so - with the extreme success rate seen with the re-tooling for COVID-19 - the hope for something that works as a defense against HIV is there and palpable. Of course, those results will be politicized - but while the politicians argue, the scientists will go back to work figuring out the NEXT BIG THING.... because that is what they do!

@raphjd said in CDC Eviction Moratoriums are illegal says US Supreme Court: @hubrys Stop being a clown. Trump did not go against the SCOTUS ruling on EMs, Biden did. Until your dying breath, you are going to blame Trump for everything. You keep proving you are nothing but a total political hack. Once again, since you are a liberal. SCOTUS ruled on the case AFTER Trump was in office. Biden decided to violate that ruling. @raphjd You are such a tool of your right-wing conspiracy sources... 1 - There was no opinion in the case you constantly refer to here, just a finding that a specific law did not apply to a specific case. Nothing - nothing - was written to explain their finding, nor to create a precedent. The finding was that they couldn't agree to overturn the lower court, so with a 4-4 tie, the lower court (appeals court) ruling stood. 2 - With no explanation, there is no way to "interpret" the finding in the above case, except in the instance for which it was found. This is "unsettled law". 3 - It was Trump's CDC rule that was found to exceed what was authored in the original law - a law that has been re-written and re-passed since. NOTE: It doesn't mean Trump's CDC rule was good or bad, just that their legal basis for their rule was an "overreach" in the eyes of an appeals court judge (or, possibly a panel)... and SCOTUS couldn't agree enough to say either way! 4 - Biden's CDC (which is arguably, the same as the Trump CDC) issued a new rule to stop evictions. I don't agree with the rule (as I noted: where the f**k are the landlords supposed to get the money to pay the taxes, mortgage, repairs, etc.?? Many of the landlords I'm speaking of are INDIVIDUAL PEOPLE, not corporations with deep-pockets... in many cases, this was people's retirement plan - and not only is the cash flow gone, but the "principal" is too! They've been foreclosed on - in many cases by the TAX-MAN!) 5 - In response to an earlier post: NO, the NIH is not entirely political - but they have, in recent history, been dragged into political arguments. Also, as the HEAD of the CDC is a political appointee, there can sometimes be overlap. That is a LONG WAY from being entirely political Indeed, I would propose that the CDC (and NIH) are mostly a-political, but their findings get used by politicians when it suits them. Is the new moratorium on evictions (for non-payment of rent due to COVID-19) a political rule? Or a public health one? If you asked me to, I could reasonably argue either way. And that is the true nature of humanity - most things are NOT clear-cut, binary observations. There are usually nuances...

My oldest brother.. who tried and failed to steal my house with forged documents last year.. Is EXTREMELY liberal. In his entire life, he has intentionally taken the opposite position on everything that is rational. His idol was Mike Stivic (Meathead) on "All In The Family" portrated by Rob Reiner who is much more liberal than his character Mike Stivic. My theory is that white liberals tend to be people who reject common sense, and believe they have some superior knowledge that supercedes reality.

@kekkaishi said in C-19 and the liberal hivemind: That's the definition of NPC @raphjd said in C-19 and the liberal hivemind: This picture only shows 5, but there are more than 100 such posts on the Twitter. Notices they aren't retweets. Likewise with Facebook. Nearly identical quotes from supposedly different people? Not hardly... Certainly there are break-thru cases of COVID-19 - the same as kids who have been vaccinated against measles can still get a slight case if someone in their school get it! The danger (in school) isn't that it starts spreading because one kid gets it... the danger is that, even though nearly everyone WILL get it if it is brought into the school environment - and some of those kids (and adults) will not have been vaccinated, and so will get very sick (and possibly die).... Vaccines don't stop you from getting the virus, they simply prepare your body so that when it is invaded by the virus, you don't get so sick (or possibly even sick at all). Did none of you take Biology 1 in High School? Did they not teach you how viruses and infections spread? Geez!

@serenity said in Trust the science: @bi4smooth I don't think that "science" change, but the results do, when we get smarter. And what is wrong about getting smarter. Some people have always had a problem with science, because it conflicts their world view. It has been that way for centuries. Absolutely science changes... Heisenberg changed how we measure things. Newton changed our understanding of mass vs. weight (they are NOT the same). Hawking changed how we think of and measure time. But separate from how science itself changes, the conclusions we make from scientific studies changes... especially when we base our conclusions on limited data... and we got that in spades with COVID-19: everyone was clamoring for answers, so the scientists gave them what they had: knowing the data was incomplete. And that made them wrong... wrong far more often than we like hearing that scientists are wrong! There is an acronym often used in computer science: GIGO Garbage in / Garbage out When you have small sample sizes, your conclusions can be thrown off by the smallest of anomalies... but that is the beauty of science - we LEARN from our mistakes! We (scientists) challenge our assumptions and SEEK to prove our theories WRONG! (You can seldom prove a theory is valid, but you can often prove it wrong! The more people try - and fail - to prove a theory is wrong, the more accepted as "probably right" it becomes!
