@john32123666 Is there a downsiide to not downloading all the files in a torrent? I never considered this, although I have noticed that torrents don't seem to SEED until after they have completed downloading. I assumed that "Don't Download" counted as being complete in regards to the torrent's status.

@tnar Actually... getting some files completed rather than have them all complete at the same rate seems to speed things up. I noticed something else. The files set to high priority that don't complete seem to have some packets tied/overlapping with packets of low priority files. So, this phenomenon probably only shows up with collections of mixed priorities. I tried to test this by setting the low priority files do DO NOT DOWNLOAD to see if that prevented the high priority incomplete files from completing. It did NOT. The high priority files not only completed, but also the files set to DO NOT DOWNLOAD completed.. making me think those DO NOT DOWNLOAD packets are tied to the packets in the other files.

It seems something is now a miss with the old non-SSL tracker. If you want to use the non-SSL tracker, try changing the announce URL to begin with the following: http://tracker.gaytor.rent:2710/ As an alternative, you can try using the SSL tracker by using the following start to the URL https://tracker.gaytor.rent/

@sfbayboy1981-0 each ISP has their own firewall settings that block incoming connections based on different criteria. The ISP and server firewalls are not the only culprits here, as each peer has their own set of firewall rules and, in addition to that, each peer's torrent client has its own policies regarding to how incoming connections are treated. Having a different DNS might result in the connection performing a different route that will go through different servers (thus different firewalls) and this could impact on the success (or failure) of the connection. With VPNs it is exactly the same principle, a different route, but this time much more aggresively different. Both leads to the same outcome but have different probabilities of having a positive effect. Overall switching your DNS provider or using a VPN migh end up clearing the way for connecting with peers that otherwise you wouldn't be able to, but the opposite of this is also true, this might end up blocking you from connecting to peers that normally you would be able to reach.

@lololulu19 It is with good reason you shouldn't trust 3.6.0... It has compatibility issues with many sites and trackers, including ours. For this reason, we do no recommend updating it to anything newer than any of the builds of 3.5.5.

@nancledra53 If you look in your client and see "Error: unregistered torrent" or similar in the status column then that torrent has been deleted. That's your notification. All is not necessarily lost though. If the remaining swarm contains any seeders (or enough leechers with all the individual parts) you still have a chance of completing the download. When a torrent gets deleted from the site it stops anyone new from joining the swarm, but it has no ill effects on an existing swarm. It doesn't happen very often as people usually kill the download as soon as they see it's been deleted, but I've managed to finish a few files this way in the past. My advice is to keep them running in your client for a week or 2 if you can just to give them a chance.

Torrents need to be at least 7 days old before they can be freeleeched. The point of freeleech is not to fix your ratio, it's too keep torrents alive. You can fix your ratio through freeleech but it's not easy or fast. If you need to boost your ratio quickly, upload your own torrents.

@AlexDemand It usually takes a few minutes for the tracker to update after you delete a torrent from your client.

I already noted that I changed the announce URL for all my GTRU torrents to the non-SSL http URL and they are now all working fine. I would just prefer to use the SSL version for security reasons and when I was last on the tracker having SSL switched on and using the https announce URL I had no issues. All the old torrents continued to work with the https announce and it was only newly downloaded torrents that required me to use the non-SSL URL. That's why it's so baffling to me, if the ports were blocked in some way it should surely affect all the torrents and not just newly downloaded ones. If the tracker is precisely the same and the behavior of old and new torrents are also the same in different clients then there might be an issue with your GT account. I'm sure the mod here would've told me if they saw an issue with the account. I didn't bother trying another client and since issue seems largely resolved no there's no real need. If you end up having to update your passkey, you can manually add them to your client's old torrents, some clients even allow batch adding trackers so you can change all trackers at once. I shouldn't need to do something as drastic and when I collated all the torrents into one tracker URL there's over 2000(!) so changing them all wouldn't have been fun, but still doable I suppose
