Depends on the person.  IMO there are two reasons to have a trainer: if you are shy getting into the gym and figuring it out for yourself, or if having a trainer will motivate you to keep going. I don't think they are necessarily educated or qualified than anyone else with access to the internet and bodybuilding.com
