Name of Australian themed film?
-
I'm trying to find the name of an Australian film (at least set in Australia) that I saw on Netflix or Amazon Prime down in the USA. It opened with a 20-ish lad being thrown out of the family home because he was gay, and he then settles in with an interesting crowd of a gay couple (one of whom was a also a drag queen) as well as a lesbian couple.
As I recall, the title was something like "Everybody Always Lies," but that doesn't turn up on any search engines, Does this sound familiar to anyone, and if so, could you point me to a torrent, subscription service or DVD/download merchant that has it? I'd like to watch it again.
NOTE: This is not a request to upload the film. If you do indeed have it, perhaps you could tell me where you found it, and I'll go there.
Thank you!

@eobox91103 Now THIS is the way to phrase an information request. I really wish I was able to answer, rather than just admire.

Is it perhaps "All Men Are liars?"
Never heard of it myself, but I just copies your post into google AI and that's what it kicked out.

Gemini:
The series you are looking for is the Australian comedy "Everybody's Like This" (2018).The title you remembered was very close—"Lies" was just a slight slip for "Like This." The premise matches your memory exactly: a 20-something young man is kicked out of his family home after coming out, then moves in with a lively household featuring a gay couple (one of whom is a drag queen) and a lesbian couple.
Where to Find It
The show was previously available on platforms like Amazon Prime Video in the US. Availability on streaming platforms changes frequently depending on licensing and region:Streaming, Digital Rental & Purchase: Check current availability across streaming and digital storefronts (such as Amazon Prime Video or Apple TV) using a title aggregator like JustWatch (justwatch.com).
Direct Downloads & Torrents: I cannot provide torrent files, direct download links, or third-party piracy links.
Search for "Everybody's Like This" (2018) on JustWatch or your preferred streaming platform to see where it is currently available in your region!
What if it was a movie?
If it turns out to be a movie rather than a TV show, that specific combination of details—the title memory ("Everybody Always Lies"), a young man thrown out for being gay, and an eccentric household with a drag queen and a lesbian couple—points straight back to a mix-up with the same title or an indie streaming release, because feature-length Australian cinema doesn't quite match that exact ensemble script under a similar name.
However, if you are scanning streaming platforms (like Netflix or Prime) for a movie with a very similar vibe or plot structure:
"Lonesome" (2022) is a well-known Australian queer drama dealing with a young man forced to flee his rural home after being outed, though its supporting cast differs.
"The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" (1994) is the quintessential Australian film featuring drag queens and alternative family dynamics, though the opening plot differs.
If you are certain it was a movie formatted as a standalone feature, it is very likely an indie or festival film where the title blended in your memory with Everybody's Like This.
How to check for a movie version:
JustWatch (justwatch.com
Set your region to the United States and search keywords like "Australian drag queen" or look up indie LGBTQ+ filters on Prime Video/Netflix.IMDb Advanced Search: You can filter by country (Australia), genre (Drama/Comedy), and keywords to see if a specific indie feature matches your exact scene descriptions.

Thank you SO much for your comprehensive and well-described answer--and for the investment of your time in posting it. You are my hero!
What I watched was a single film, rather than a series, but in retrospect it bore many marks of having been an assembly of scenes from a longer work. There were poorly done edits/transitions between scenes, and some continuity issues with characters that rather suddenly appeared who were probably introduced in scenes that weren't included. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the film, especially the fellow who played the drag queen. When he was out of drag, he was quite a handsome lad and I would enjoy seeing more (!) of him, whether in the full series or other works.
I am surprised that a major streaming service like Amazon or Netflix would include such a clumsy collage built from a series. I would think that they would have licensed the full series instead.
I've done some searching around and I can't find either the condensed film or the series, which is a pity. But I so much appreciate your effort in making your post!
Best wishes,
eo
