should i be worried about this?

be non-straight is political for itself. so this is kinda scary.
i hope this is not those small signs that the entire world is becoming unsafe for us. -
@vloguero this is a sign that even if the world is unsafe, you will not ever find out while browsing this site. you can be racist, transphobic, a far-right nutcase, a lunatic, etc... you are welcome here, as long as you don't talk about it or express your opinion about those matters.
the purpose of this rule is so that everyone can enjoy the site without spoiling the experience of others.
-
@ianfontinell If this is so damaging to the experience, why now? This site has been around for many decades.
-
@vloguero Because... why not now? The site rules are against discrimination and politics, if anything this makes it safer and more comfortable for everyone, no?
Is there anything in particular that you're worried about? Maybe you can elaborate on that further so the admins can better see your perspective

idk if it is a coincidence but the rule came one day after someone called the site owner jewish (he is german)

but like others said, better late than later.

@eusanderse The FAR right has been coming to power in several countries over the last few years. In such places, repression and silence almost always follow. Perhaps this new site rule means absolutely nothing. Maybe I’m just a bit frightened because my own country (Brazil) is at risk. I’ve been a user of this site for many years; it truly feels like a safe space for me. That’s why I decided to post this topic—something I rarely ever do. I just wanted to talk about it because a red light went on in my head.

@vloguero Hopefully this isn't seen in itself as a political comment, but from my observations, it's primarily the very side you're concerned about that has necessitated the introduction of this rule.
If this was the suppression of one point of view then yes, it would be cause for concern, but it isn't. It's the suppression of all because, for most of us at least, we neither want nor need it here.
There are plenty of appropriate forums in which to express one's political viewpoint. This clearly isn't what this site is for.

Does this prevent us from uploading political-themed gay porn or themed movies? Milk for example in the themed group (a movie about Harvey Milk) or Crossing the Line (sex at the 1996 RNC convention), Penetration on Pennsylvania Avenue, Don't Ask, Don't Tell (a military-themed gay porn), etc.?
Seems like there is a good amount of gay porn films with political overtones and it's unclear how those fit in. I think the "no political debates/discussions" makes a lot of sense since a lot of the forums is literally just mean-spirited poop throwing (a reason I rarely venture deep into the forums).
But I would consider clarifying the film piece.

@Rainbow69 the rule explicitly says it applies to forum posts, torrent comments and private messages.Banned content is a different rule, it only includes child and animal abuse, underage models, rape, torture and drug usage.
Music videos and live concerts are forbidden regardless of if being lgbt themed. For other media like movies, TV shows, books, magazines, it's allowed if related to lgbt.
No mention of politics in this rule means any political content is subject only to those rules. If it's related to lgbt (plot or character-wise) it's allowed. If it's leaked sexual stuff, or sexual stuff portraying political figures (pre or post political career) it is allowed as long don't fall into any of the banned content list.

Thank you for clarifying. I read the"anywhere on the site" language to mean political-themed movies might also be restricted. Glad to know that's not the case.

Political parodies are allowed. A torrent with a political theme is fine as long as its title and description carry no political message. No hate, no politics is about comments, the forum and descriptions.

i hope this is not those small signs that the entire world is becoming unsafe for us.No... To clarify your concerns, this has to do with a recent need to change certain policies in order to protect the best interests of everyone involved. You can have any belief on any topic that you want, as long as discussions on politics or any discussion that could be viewed as hate speech are checked at the door.
So to be clear, you can still hold any belief or value you so choose, just don't engage in any political discussion (regardless of where you stand on the subject), and do not lay any hateful speech against anyone. I understand your concerns on the topic, but I just wanted to be clear that this policy came about in order to protect the best interests and safety of ALL users of the site, and provide a space where ALL people are welcome.
