External drive not recognised on second PC
-
I've got a large USB hard drive that I use to store all my porn downloads on. I usually have it connected to a little N100 mini-pc that's there purely to run my torrents, StashDB and Plex. When the drive gets too full I usually connect it to my much more powerful gaming rig and pass all the downloads through Handbrake to eliminate any playback issues and reduce the file sizes.
Well, the drive is full again, but when I connect it to my gaming rig it doesn't show up in Explorer. There's the usual "Device connected" *donk" sound, and I can hear the drive spin up, but it just isn't visible, so obviously I can access anything on it. When I plug it back into the N100 the drive works fine. Yes, I've tried using different USB ports with no joy. I haven't used BitLocker or encrypted anything, and even if I had surely the drive would still be visible, wouldn't it?
So, anyone got any ideas?

@frostycab ... unplug and try pressing a bit the silver knob [not to damage] the usb cable you plug not connecting properly,
that way it can hold from the usb slot properly when inserted ...
Sometimes a usb plug become loose due to plug in & out may cause an issue ...
Any device connected from PC usb port will recognize each driver once properly inserted ...
And if not it's due to firmware, adapter, or not compatible ...
Safely remove hardware and eject media will recognize any device connected ...
restarting your PC sometimes help to power up any connected device ...
