That is because there are now downloader (leecher) on the torrents you seed.

It will be the same on the torrent you leech, because you are not late on the wave, you are much after it. It got more than 100 seeds, but only you as leecher, which means there will be no one immediately to seed to when you finished downloading, and if a downloader appears, you'll compete with many.

With low ratio, you should select very new torrents, you like, when they have only one seed and yet not too many leecher or freeleech torrents, you like, with enough freeleech duration left to finish the download.

I stress on "you like", because after download, you should keep the files seeding for long and not delete it after a week or so.

This is a great site because of the variety, but the inability to seed after you're finished leeching is a real drag.  I have no idea why this site seems to be the only one I have this issue with.

Sorry to bump an old thread but I can't figure out how to get anything to leech from me around here. Ok, I d/l'ed some files with no leechers but right now I have a file with 15 leechers and uTorrent keeps saying 0.0 uploading. I checked my settings, ran the Setup test, everything seems normal, but still nothing is uploading. Why??? Is it always so hard to keep a decent ratio on this site? It seems more trouble than it's worth right now….

That torrent you  mention is a good example for torrents to avoid with ratio issues: torrents for multiple files, completed many times and nevertheless supposedly many leecher.

            That torrent got 10 files:
            2 Clips
            2 Picture set archives (zip)
            8 small pictures for preview

The peers which appear as leecher have chosen not to download all files and are actually seeding what they've selected and got. They just can't be shown as seeder, because hey haven't all files. None of them is downloading right now.

Yeesh. And of course every time I d/l something hoping it'll leech, my ratio gets worse. Something seems wrong with these rules when well-intentioned people can have such a hard time staying within bounds…

How bout somebody just point me to the "right" kind of torrent to get for this cuz I'm at a loss right now.

I just wanted to say thanks to you, Popper, for your helpful posts. As a newb to the site they have helped me work on my share ratio and understand how to download torrents more wisely. I definitely recommend following the advice to other new folks as well.

With time, i.e. higher absolute values of upload and download amounts, the share ratio stabalises. It will take longer to move significantly up and down.

If it is good enough to stay above the next higher Rationator minium ratio steps, you'll be able to download torrents which are less good for immediate ratio improvements.

I'm having the same 'not seeding' situation..  I completed download and left Transmission (on Mac pro) on for days..  When I check my seeding stats.  the server says it is seeding, but i guess nobody is downloading..  I can leach and seed on any number of sights,,Anounamouse, Kickass Torrents, mac torrents, pirate bay, etc.

Any instructions for Transmission would be helpful..I couldn't find any.

                      thanx  angelonyc

There are two reasons why you don't upload:
1/ The torrent you seed got no leecher (downloader) at the moment. Keep it seeding, in case someone starts downloading
2/ You are the only leecher on the torrent you download at the moment. Nobody to send the parts you've got already

In addition your Transmission is reported as not connectible (read the earlier posts in this topic about what that means)

The trackers you name (those I know by name), are public tracker. they got much more user and because they haven't a ratio many peers leave after download. That makes seeding easy for those how stay.

To improve the connection of Transmission, make sure you've made an exception in your Mac's firewall for the port set for Transmission's connection and activate UPnP and NAT-PMT if that option exists. Sorry no Mac here, can't help you with step by step instructions.
