Hmmm, I've been getting exactly the same thing and because there was no message on the homepage about it or no message in the forums, I assumed it was just a problem with my internet provider. (Sometimes my provider makes loading certain sites problematic, eg slow).

Hmmm again - I've just checked your location, corbyguy and see that you're also in the UK, so maybe it could be the internet provider. PM me and I'll tell you who my provider is so we can see if we're using the same one. (I'll respond tomorrow as I'm off to bed now).

I doubt it's your provider or your location because I experience the same thing. My guess is that some work has been done or is still being done on the site probably relating to the recent introduction of freeleech torrents. Or maybe it has nothing to do with it. The fact is that the site has become slower for some reason.

Thanks, Dax. That certainly makes sense, because from what I remember the problems started the same time that the freeleech torrents were introduced.

Not the only ones to notice this slow down on the loading of the website - I too am in the UK and thought something was going on but as you mentioned the problems appeared as soon as the free leech option was introduced. Not good as everything was going fine previous to that.

The old saying "if it ain't broke then don't try to fix it" springs to mind  😞

It is not at all sure that this is related to the Freeleech, but can't excluded either. There were done other changes to the pages about the same time frame.

To note that for example for me the pages show up most time with the usual delay.

Same problem here.  I am in the USA and have been experiencing this problem for probably five or more days.  Every page I attempt to access can be affected.

I'm experiencing the problem too, in Spain. Chrome error says "Error 118 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT)".

It definitely seems to be at it's worst today - many pages taking over 5 attempts to load (and each attempt taking a long time).

                          Has the problem been diagnosed?

Edit: 4th attempt to submit this post

It is clear from all the reports that the problem is not specific to any geographic location, internet provider, type of connection, operating system or web browser.
It is also clear that the problem is specific to GT.ru. General web navigation or visiting other sites is unaffected.

Page loading takes forever, a connection timed out error is frequent, and often the pages are loaded in a distorted form.

As to the cause, Uwe said that some other changes took place at the same time. At the top of the page, under the blue band menu, there are some stats (UL, DL, Ratio, Bonus). I noticed that about a week or so ago, those stats started to get updated in real-time (without having to renew the page). There must have been an upgrade. Perhaps that upgrade has something to do with the problem.

In any case, something needs to be done soon, because the situation is getting frustrating.

                              @Dax:

It is clear from all the reports that the problem is not specific to any geographic location, internet provider, type of connection, operating system or web browser. …

Sorry, I disagree with that, because we have as well reports that things are working fine … , look just at the posts of junior, AndyZ , me, ...

However there IS an issue, while most of the time page loading is correct for me, sometimes it is slower than it used to be, but still faster than other users report (e.g. no time outs for me).

You're right, Uwe. The problem is not universal - as you said, many users do not experience that problem.
But many users do. I simply mentioned that for those who do experience that problem, it is not specific to any location, OS, web browser etc.

Same problem here. Everything that is hosted on gtru needs a very long time to load/process requests. Uploading a new torrent is practically impossible. No matter what OS/browser is used. Rest of the interweb is working fine.

ofcourse we made some changes to the site.. but i dont think that this changes affect slow page loading what some of you experience.

to see if we dont have network issues, do me a favour and send me the output of the commandline tool. But do it only if you have slow pageloading

traceroute gaytor.rent  (on osx or unix)
                                    tracert gaytor.rent        (on windows systems)

please copy/paste the output and send me a PM

                                    thx

Done Tom. From ubuntu 10.04 . Noticed a slight slowdown from Italy too but honestly nothing specially worrying. Hence didn't think to report it.
We often experience many provider related problems.

It takes forever to load the page as well. The forum's lay-out doesn't only appear to be malformed, it also replaces icons with the default broken image icon of my browser.
Donation page sometimes turns into 404 - Forbidden and most pages require refresh to be processed out normally.

Hi,  I was having same problems, changed a couple of settings in my profile - Pics 2.0, and email notification of torrent uploads -  this has not solved these problems but it has improved things a lot - hope these comments help.

                                          best wishes everyone,

UPDATE: Sorry guys I appear to have spoken too soon. Even though I did check several different types of pages and they all loaded either quickly or at least at an acceptable speed before I posted the above message, the problems now seem to have returned. That said, the problem doesn't seem as bad as it was. For example even though I am back to getting "Could not connect to remote server" errors, it takes a lot less time to see this error than it did previously. Whilst this is clearly far from perfect, it does allow one to hit the reload/refresh option much quicker if one is determined to view the page.

For info - the first attempt to submit my edits to this post failed.
