Unknown pic format
-
@peteinoz Yeah, the zero-length torrent file issue hit me, as well. I was finally able to finish uploading pictures and post the torrent last night, and was rejoicing that the problem seemed to be over. Then I went to download my newly-posted torrent..... A zero-length torrent file that was useless. I deleted the torrent immediately.
Judging from the dearth of torrents posted overnight, and from the results of a test case this morning, the problem is still there. It would be nice to get an acknowledgement from the site admins that they know about the problem.

It's finally fix and taken care of, thanks to the staff whoever is responsible ...

I already see some recent post w/ images ... -
@john32123666 I always wondered why there is .jpg .jpeg and .jfif
I think they are all the same.
Seems like gifs are mainly just for animated pics and microsoft's BMP files are obsolete.
The new standard seems to be PNG.
I bet your JFIF problem could have been fixed by just renaming your files to JPG (or even PNG).
-
JPEG stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group
JPEG images group together the following filename extensions:.jpg
.jpeg
.jpe
.jif
.jfif
.jfiPNG is short for Portable Network Graphic
renaming (.) filename extension will result invalid or corrupted ...
jpg and png are both accepted as long it's not oversized and exceeds byte size ...

@lololulu19 I'm no technician at all but, according to Wikipedia, .jfi/.jfif seems to be a slight variant of .jpg: the algorithm used to compress the image is the same but extra info is store differently (as far as I could understand).
As for other file formats I have also experienced positively the upload on gaytor.rent of files with extension .heic (which is Apple renaming for .heif).While JPEG algorithm is lossy, .heif can be set to encode losslessly, as for .png (while producing smaller files than .png).
Also, .png has a nice advantage over the former formats: it can preserve transparency. A feature which is however useless on gaytor.rent since every uploaded image is automatically converted to .jpg (and transparency β whiteβ¦). -
UPDATE :
Unknown pic format is acting up again, backend issue ... -
I'm glad I'm not the only one to have this problem.
I haven't been able to upload anything for 6 hours.
No images. Torrent size : 0 kb
What I don't understand is that I see new uploads posted, with pictures.
No answer from the Helpdesk.
voilΓ ! -
Happened to me too. It doesn't look like it's really related to images as the torrent is 0 bytes (when it finally uploaded).
Maybe the server HDD is full? Just a wild guess.
-
@peterzed
thank you Peter.
but why are there new uploads ? (mind you, very very few, not as many as usual at this time of day) - that I can't explain...
-
Hmm true that. In that case I've got no clue lol

-
@peterzed
I wish there had been a warning / post this morning.
I have tried and tried and tried to upload the same torrent for one hour, asking myself "what did I do wrong????" - changing the names of the files, checking if there was no unauthorized character (like !, ?, Γ©, Γ¨, Γ , etc).
pfffffff

-

again, same message.
I give up.
-
Yeah. Another wild guesss is that the site upload function seems to be working incorrectly, with images and torrents.
-
It messes up image uploads so the backend can't process it (getting "Unknown format")
-
It messes up torrent uploads so all we get is a 0-byte file so they are useless :

Hope it gets fixed soon

@peterzed
I noticed there was a new Gaytor upload utility
https://community.gaytor.rent/topic/65942/software-release-gaytor-rent-upload-utilitybut could not get it working.
what is nerve-racking with the GTM is that you have to select image by image, and not a batch of pictures at the same time. I hope they will fix that too one day

-
@peterzed Problem fixed !
