The one real person I like the most is doing something that concerns me.. seems he is vaping. Vaping itself does not bother me, but I wonder what he is vaping, and if he is doing anything else. I have asked him before if he ever smoked, and he said 'NO". I know he likes a little bit of rum and beer - but that is no problem. I know he had a friend last year that was a chronic druggie - and that relationship only lasted a couple of months - probably because of the drugs.
What do most people vape? nicotine? cannabis? flavorings? chemicals?
I know he can barely pay his rent, so he can't be pissing money away on this stuff.
Reminds me of grandparents on my father's side. Both of them were chain smokers, which cost a lot of money. They could not afford to pay for cable television, so they were stuck watching just one or two local TV channels! They sacrificed a lot of other things to afford their smoking habit. In today's money.. a pack of cigarettes at Walmart is $9. They both smoked 2 packs a day. That is $36 / day up in smoke. That is over $13,000 per year - not taking into account that the cost of the cigarettes is only a small part of the total cost of smoking (health related costs, etc). How many elderly people can afford to piss away that kind of money?

@raphjd is it bad? i thought it was cheaper and safer than smoking. What makes it bad? I discourage it.. but I found a picture of my best friend with a vape device in lap.
I need to know why it is bad so I can hopefully get him to stop vaping. I convinced him to stop having sex with girls.. but can I convince him to stop vaping?

here's one reason that I did not use on him to stop having sex with girls.
One who has sex with girls is likely to either be party to an abortion, or unwanted child, or forced relationship due to a child, but perhaps the WORST scenario is that even if the child was planned and everything seems great.. what chance does that CHILD have of a happy future? The best Trump can do is delay the pain of the future. There is a nuclear war looming with China about to attack Taiwan with the USA currently weakened by having a senile president, bankrupt country, and military drained by supporting Ukraine and Israel. And.. besides all that, the planet is said to only be capable of sustaining 20 billion people. We are already past 8 billion. it was 4 billion within a few decades ago. At the current rate of growth, the population will be 20 billion in 100 years. EEK!
Breeders are quite selfish by having children for their OWN agendas rather than thinking about the future for that child.

Yes, it's bad. It's a nicotine delivery device, and nicotine is highly addictive. Addictions have the potential to take over and ruin someone's life. Yes, it's bad.

Structural comment: Your paragraph starting "here's one reason..." is a non sequitur: You bring up abortion, overpopulation, Trump, China, Taiwan, Biden, etc. That will be red meat to others who pile on and drown out the original vaping topic, which is worthy of discussion. May I suggest that you keep your posts on your original topic so they don't get derailed?

Bronchiolitis obliterans, aka popcorn lung, is caused by inhaling the oils in the vape oil. This is especially the case with flavored oils.

Public Health England says it causes popcorn lung, while NHS England says it does not. NHS ENgland provides a service to swap people from cigarettes to vaping, so there's a conflict.

The American Lung Association and many others also link popcorn lung with vaping.

It should be noted that popcorn lung can be gotten from inhaling a lot of different toxic chemicals. That being said, most people are not in a position to be inhaling these chemicals.

ahh... I never heard of popcorn lung.. I will have to research that. I've heard of Corn Pop... but that was just some senile old man rambling on about when he was a lifeguard.65 years ago.

@raphjd wow... you know.. I never considered this.. but it makes sense. oils are not meant to be inhaled... the lungs don't function the way the digestive track works.

If I didn't know this stuff about the dangers of vaping, then very few people know.
                  Thanks for sharing that information!
