        its never safe for gonorrhea chlamydia herpes hpv mycoplasma genitalium - hominis, and UTIs. hepatitis b and c only when blood present (aka big dick / traumatized /infected mucosas)

        if u mean safe for HIV - with prep it is mostly safe.

          Odd that @di3di3di3 overlooks the available treatments for all of these - including the HPV vaccine - in what appears to be an argument against bareback sex.

          Your question tho (Is bareback sex safe) is deeper than that tho... sex - even masturbation - isn't "safe"! There is risk in EVERYTHING you do! So, the implied question is actually: "Is bareback safe enough?"

          Quite honestly, that's not really a good question to ask here - not because you won't get answers, but because you won't get GOOD answers!

          Other than herpes, all of the ailments mentioned above are risks that can be mitigated/treated. (Herpes is incurable and largely untreatable, tho thankfully almost always non-lethal).

          IMHO, I look for partners who understand "risk" and take actions to lessen them... that's why I'm on PrEP, and I prefer partners who are either on PrEP or who are Poz-undetectible... in other words, guys on anti-viral meds...

          Not entirely for the protection the HIV meds provide, but even more so because it's also proof-positive that they see their Doctors & get tested frequently for other STDs... it's a requirement to remain on either set of drugs!

          What's safe enough for you? That's a decision you have to make for yourself...

            @nickcruise

            There's a degree of risk but if you're in a monogamous relationship the risk is greatly reduced.

              However, in reality, no one knows for sure if your "monogamous " partner is messing with other dudes secretly.
