I'm going to a conference in Dubai next month, and my travel agent said that the airfares are actually a bit cheaper if I return through Southeast Asia. (I know that's weird given that I'm in Canada, but prices are set by supply & demand, not cost.) Apparently a very covid-safe place is Phuket island in Thailand, as the government has pretty much isolated it from the rest of the country and put in strict vaccination and testing requirements for both visitors and residents.

I visited there for one day on a cruise ship stop a couple of years ago, and I enjoyed the scenery, the food, and the people. I'm not interested in the sex tourism angle. Has anyone spent time there, have any recommendations of hotels, tour guides, places to see, etc.? Thanks in advance for any insights you have!

@eobox91103 Might be fun to go on boat ride and do some snorkeling or scuba diving, or hanging out and drinking on the beach might be fun too. But I don't know if the weather is right and if water is clear. And watching the sunset seems like a nice activity and you get good scenery too.

@lmixxo Thanks very much! I did some scuba a while back at the Great Barrier Reef and got hooked on it.

@eobox91103 Damn that's awesome! I did it once and even when the water was not clear and the wave quite strong, I enjoyed the experience quite a bit. Anyway, enjoy! And I'll be happy to hear about how it turned out if you'd like to share.
