I started downloading and saving movies and scenes since 2009/2010 I really do not remember how many Terabytes I've stored. In the beginning I used 1TB HD then 2TB, 4TB, 6TB, 8TB and in the last 2 years I store the staff in 12TB HD

@stam8 I’d start on YouTube, take a look at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72gKksBe16c. The nice thing about Synology is you get phone, chat and email support, it’s pretty good. Because you get support and specialized hardware Synology is the expensive option.

If you want something that will work and be less expensive you can use something Open Source (free!) that runs on a regular computer with attached drives. Take a look at -

          TrueNAS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjLaK8yQAag
          Rockstor - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McU8ctQFF4Y

50 TB WD NAS, 12 TB WD MyBook, 10TB WD MyBook, and 5 TB Seagate One Touch.

Porn? That's an odd one because I have full-length films on my NAS and I've used 6TB so far. Then, I have a nice variation of single porn clips on one of the WD MyBooks and I think that's 2 TB? I will not delete anything with Boomer Banks, but I do delete full-length films that I no longer care for. However, if it's a retired porn star, I will always keep it. Yeah, I'm perverted, but I like to download music, television series, and movies, for the most part, to avoid paying for Apple TV+, Hulu, Paramount Plus, HBOMax, or Netflix subscriptions, lol!

3 TB and i think 4 TB would be more than enough, actually being strict and excluding hoarding 2 TB is enough

@MrMazda It's not that CUTE because it's more than 10T, certainly not 30T, and I've been with my boyfriend for 17 years, and he doesn't know

I have over 200TB (about 207TB) on NAS and several external hard drives.

At least 2/3rds is porn, and the rest is non-porn.

For ages, I've been working on tidying up everything but without a defined naming convention, it's hard to keep up with all the porn since everyone seems to name things in their own way.

@raphjd not to mention that the studios also cooperate and either rename themselves, buy them out, or just belong together, so you never know when which one is listed twice on your "storage"...
I've been deleting other things lately because they're unmanageable, and I've also kept hetero porn, but if I'm not exactly in love with that actor, then I'll keep it at most if he's wearing black socks

@raphjd wow very impressive. I thought my 50TB+ of porn is a lot.
Mine is quite organzied, I have an automated flow that scrapes various sites (theporndb, iafd, gevi) and automatically convert to mp4, rename the video with title, performer, studio, and date, as well as embedded synopsis/desc into the mp4 so that it shows up on Plex.

@fauci2020 I even made a website for my porn collection since file names can be very long with date, performer names and tags, especially with those 20-people orgy scenes. I don't know why but I enjoy organizing them more than watching them LOL.

                                I'm not a coder, so I need a pre-built solution.

                                I use a Synology NAS.

Currently, I rename and reencode everything manually.

I also use Plex, but no matter how I name stuff, Plex lists them in its own order. As an example, I have a folder named Three Stooges with Three Stooges videos.

The videos are named as such:
Three Stooges - Have Rocket Will Travel (1959) - 1080p.

On the NAS, they show up in order, but on Plex, they show up in various forms, such as simply; Have Rocket Will Travel.

I'm guessing it's the name in the metadata.

I am ¨only¨ at around 20 TB. I started with small 1TB external drives and when I reached the 6th I decided that I need a more practical solution and bought my first 8 TB drive. It filled in around 2021 now I almost filled in my second one.

I don't follow any naming rules and keep the names of the files as I have downloaded them but have very strict folder rules and am able to find what I am looking for quite easily. I also have created an excel catalogue file where I keep track of everything I have.

However lately the pace with which I am filling up my disks decreased significantly - I apreciate only BDSM/Fetish content and this kind of content has decreased in quality and quantity since after COVID so currently I am just trying to complete my collections of videos from the golden age 2008-2020.

@raphjd I use AI to write all the code needed for the automation. Through lots of trials an errors, I managed to have a flow that is pretty great now.

The only thing I do manually now is download. Using qbittorrent's categories, it downloads into the model or studio folder.
From there I use Fileflows with the custom scripts to lookup, move, encode (if needed), rename, and embed, as well as organize them into collections on Plex.

I run Kometa once a month to make sure all collections are proper.

Regarding Plex specifically, it defaults to sort by date added or release date, forgot which one.
If you want a specific sort, you'll have to create collection and set the sort order for that collection - this is done with Kometa

I own a Synology NAS too, with two 16TB and two 8TB hard drives (they are all half full). I put movies, music, photos, backups and personal websites on it. Around 10TB is porn.

I use Jellyfin to manage movies, Audio Station to stream music, and Immich to manage photos.

I also put qBittorent, Audiobookshelf, Calibre, Home Assistant, AdGuard, IPTV/EPG Manager, Open WebUI and OpenClaw on it.

                                        Can't live without it.

I'm happy to see I'm not the only hoarder around here. I now have 4 full 20TB hard drives full of porn along with a lot of old old drives full of random things, and will soon need to buy another to clear off my laptop. I'm contemplating spending some time to curate and organize everything, but it feels so overwhelming. And, every time I try I get distracted by one of the videos, and get off on a wild goose chase of another kind. One day, I'd like to mount the old drives I've got and see what gems I have from 25 years ago, if they still boot at all.
