I would love to support VTM legally but I do not trust the registration process.
The app makes a hash of you computer. You send that string to the author he gives you a registration code.
That same hash could be encoded somehow in to the thumbs you made tracing them back to you.

Thanks a lot for the options.

I used to use thumbnails.me. It's good, but doesn't allow you to make more than 10-12 thumbanils at a time...not to mention it fills your taskbar up with codec files.

Video Thumbnails Maker is not available for Mac but there are some alternatives that runs on macOS
with similar functionality.

Important :
you should read details and specifications first and go to official site b4 downloading ...
while some Freeware software offers bundle and 3rd party app.
[there's no guarantee, rather than skip] ...
or do a web-search ...

Thanks so much. Has anyone successfully used these? Unfortunately the first one on the list in the link provided actually isn't for MAC iOS. It's for windows. Skreenics will only work for MP4 and the rest on the list are just screen grab applications. The app Thumbs is malware. So I'm back at square 1.

@m4st3r i just saw too many red flags that my brain instantly entered danger mode...

entire website & page content are created with AI.
it claims to be free, with no ads and no telemetry, but the code is proprietary so none of those claims can be validated without reverse-engineering the program.
the main domain was created less than a year ago and is not configured.
the app itself was released just 2 days ago and there is no community page or anywhere else dedicated to report bugs and feedback.
there is not a single identifiable individual person involved anywhere in the process of developing and distributing this program.

In short you cannot know who developed it, where they're based, you cannot access the code, totally shady behavior. It could be legit, of course, maybe it's just a series of unfortunate decisions that accidentaly make the people involved in this untraceable.

I was just going to make a comment about this and you nailed it even in more detail. It's a bad idea just to have software sitting on your pc that is responsible for sensitive personal information, and there is no Github for the code. That doesn’t mean it's 100% safe but more likely malicious code to be found.

@ianfontinell that's a really fair assessment. I thought being in the microsoft store would make it safe enough... what I can tell is that it looks and works like the screenshots, I also checked my firewall and I don't see any network requests or any issues so far but I guess we'll see lol
