Hi, I've googled how can I use expire as a verb, but couldn't find an answer.
I need to say the action to expire in order to describe a procedure that goes and "expires" records whose last registration date has ended
      Thanks

The food expired a week ago.

Your registration license expires at the end of the year.

You better get your car tag renewed, otherwise it will expire in January.

The root of it might help you understand how to use it.

There are a bunch of words in English related to 'spirit'/breath.  To inspire is to breathe in and have a spirit enter you.
To expire is to breathe out and have the spirit leave you.  When a person expires they die.  When something hits its expiration date it's no longer good.  When a time of opportunity ends it's expired.
