      Absolute firefox 😉

I have tried IE and Chrome and always go to back to FF!!!! Mostly because of the plug ins!!!

There's another shortcoming of my Chrome in that I can't right-click to set as desktop wallpaper; instead, I have to save it and open it in another program.

Still, I'll stick with it because I find it more responsive then any other.

I agree with leatherbear. I like Firefox, but mostly for the plug-ins.

If Chrome gets widespread plug-in support, I may switch to Chrome. There is a small learning curve, but it is much faster than FF.

I have tested Opera, IE and Chrome so far.

              • IE - Just plain sucks and always has.

              • Opera - Nice but "hesitates" alot.

              • Chrome - Very fast and responsive(especially on this tracker) but also very barebones.

My browser to test next week is Firefox.  Hopefully after that I'll have a default browser and personal favorite. By then there will probably be updates to improve all the browsers…..except Netscape. :rotfl:

I started using Firefox today and I have to say I am a bit disappointed.  It doesn't respond anywhere near as fast as Chrome on my laptop.  I'm gonna give it a few days to see if it grows on me but right now it looks like Chrome is my choice.

One thing I have noticed is that videos on youtube freeze with FF but IE plays them OK. Also OK in Safari. But overall FF works pretty well though IE has LESS problems than say a year ago. It certainly doesn't crash the way it used to and now with tabbed browsing only one tan crashes so you don't lose the whole session which used to aggravate the hell out of me.

I had been a long time FireFox user but for the past few months I've been using the nightly builds of Chromium (the open source version of Chrome, what Chrome is based on). It's fast, able to use extensions, and has a bookmarks manager (unlike Chrome Beta Mac, which doesn't really have anything -lol). So far it's been pretty reliable, although once in a great while a build may be a little buggy, but I've only had that happen once so far. One build used crap loads of CPU and would crash while trying to quit. FU then, I was quitting anyways!  No worries tho, most bugs are fixed fast and you can always easily revert back a version in the meantime… I don't mind constantly updating, it only takes a few secs. Chromium is my default browser now. 🙂

Here's the link for the XP nightlies if you wanna try it, and I've used these on Windows 7 too.
                    Xttp://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-xp/?C=M;O=D
Download the one under "LATEST" if several builds are listed above it; Xttp://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-xp/LATEST

Or you can try the Beta version of Chrome; Xttp://www.google.com/chrome/eula.html?extra=betachannel  Xttp://dev.chromium.org/getting-involved/dev-channel/
It's more stable than the dev channel releases so it's best to use beta if you want to use Chrome with extensions as you default browser, and not have to update all the time...well, it should do it for you anyhow :), Chromium doesn't update automatically like Chrome does. The Mac beta doesn't have extensions enabled, so that's why I use Chromium on the Mac side.

If you want to save your extension preferences (of course you do :)) don't delete cookies by using the "Clear browsing data…" option, uncheck Delete cookies and if you ever want to delete them and still keep your extension preferences you can do it though Under the Hood -> Show cookies and website permissions.
In earlier builds there was an option to delete LocalStorage (where extension prefs are) or keep it, but now it's deleted along with cookies if you use the "Clear browsing data" option and choose to erase cookies.

Edit: I've begun using the developer release of Chrome rather than Chromium since extensions are enabled in the dev Chrome Mac version again (the Mac beta still doesn't have extensions enabled). It has a separate option to delete or save local storage as Chromium once did (in the recent Chromium builds local storage gets deleted along with cookies so your extension preferences will be lost if  localstorage is deleted), and it has the auto-update option too. I'm hoping to stick with the dev releases until either the beta or official releases have extensions enabled.

After testing several browsers on my home pc and my laptop, Chrome by far is the fastest.  I know alot of you are Firefox loyalist due to the extensions and all but I just want to surf the web fast.  Google's Chrome 2 does that for me better than all others.

Thanks for your input and feel free to discuss any new builds of any browser that may trump Chrome's speed.  I am open minded and don't mind change….as long as it's for the better.

I have numerous browsers installed and use different ones for different tasks.
                        My suite is:
Firefox (most used for all things)
Chrome (fastest and used for some sessions)
Maxthon (I like having the split screen ability to have two tabs on screen concurrently - occasionally used depending on type of session)
IE7 (used for historical purposes - believe it or not, one website I visit ONLY works with IE - arghhhh)
Avant (a shell for IE that allowed tabs before IE did so - also remembered all tabs upon relaunching after a crash - rarely used except on old backup desktop PC)

                          Opera  :clap2:
I tried "the other ones" because people say they prefer them, but I keep coming back to Opera.

One update to anyone who is interested.  Chrome 4.0.249.78 (36714) now has extension support!  That is just the icing on the cake for me.  If speed and extension support is your thing(I'm looking at you Firefox Users  ;D) the new Chrome Browser is worth a look.

I love both Chrome and Firefox. I sometime find Firefox gets into some memory leak after a lot of browsing.

I usually use Opera, and my next go-to browser is Firefox.

I'm on Linux (Mageia) and Opera has the least Flash problems I've encountered and is one of the fastest compared to some others. Just wish it would be more up-to-date compared to the Windows counterpart where it's hella fast although it doesn't have as many features.

Firefox has definitely grown a lot and IMO they've really dealt with the memory problems well and is definitely a lot faster than several releases ago.

Chrome is alright but it's a bit bloated on Linux for some reason. I'm not sure why a browser would need a 60MB+ package to be installed so it's definitely not as fast as Opera or Firefox. Also I'm still worried about privacy.  :cens:

                                        Hi!

Opera under Linux had that same problem with java and much more when activated  flash. Then going performance down but still now OK and to work.

Chrome will never be installed on pc because its from Google. I dont like Google anyway 😉
