It all depends on how long that it takes a mod to actually get to the report. They are submitted for mod review immediately upon user submission. If a duplicate report is rejected, you should at least get a PM advising you that the duplicate report has been rejected.

I thought I would get some sort of notice if I was wrong.  I also wondered if someone else had reported it before me as I can understand multiple eagle eyes on the lookout for 50 seedpoints just laying around duplicates but no PM & duplicate torrents (apart from the language of the filename) existing.

[off-topic]I am sure it's just an urban myth but I heard everytime duplicate torrents touch it stimulates the pleasure centres in the brains of Ted Roger's progeny.[/off-topic]

The tool handling torrents will automatically send a PM when it is accepted, but not when it is rejected by the moderator reviewing the report.

Sending a PM to the reporter to indicate the reason for which it is rejected is rather complicated and time consuming. I must admit, yesterday I've handled about 10 reports and haven't sent a PM on those 2 or 3 rejected.

Unfortunately we currently accumulate a backlog in duplicate report handling, there were 55 when I started yesterday, some a few days old. Now there are 67 …

I didn't realize there would be so many duplicates as I don't see them very often & I guess I just figured uploaders are diligent checking their shares.  I know I check once, twice & then maybe even a third time because I uploaded a duplicate once.  Caught it myself fortunately but was still mortified.

Sorry for being impatient & thank you for your time & effort.

It still amazes me how many duplicates get posted when on the simplest of searches the duplicates show up.

One I saw this morning had mangled the studio name, I wondered why, it was a duplicate. So the seeder's time and effort were wasted as it was probably taken down before anyone had downloaded a byte to give him upload credit.

Still easy pickings for those like me who need every bonus point they can get  😉

Yeah, but as long as one person starts as a leecher before TPTB take down the page the uploader will get anything that they upload.

Which is why I get so pissy when a torrent labelled bareback has latex involved.  Not only is there no seeding but the seeding taking place is highway robbery!

Well I just keep 4 external disks and 4TB reserved for pr0n. In comparison I have at least 123MB of music on a USB dongle  😉

I don' send a messages when I reject a dupe report unless I notice the user reporting allot of torrents that are not dupes, dead, or they keep putting the urls in backwards.
