Ah Amsterdam! The capital of the Netherlands! You've not visited the Netherlands if you only been in Amsterdam and Schiphol Airport. I can't say that I've been elsewhere than London and it's suburbs when I've visited the UK. Still planing to go to York and a few other cities and places.

Do you live in the part of the UK where the amount of water is causing a lot of problems?

        No, thank goodness

And I have been to a couple of other places besides A'dam 🙂

I hope we (the Dutch) can help the people there to make sure it will not happen again. As you probably know, the Netherlands has a lot of knowledge when it comes to water management.  🙂

What places have you visited as well?

I think we have already called on your experts (and their special equipment) for help.

            Rotterdam, mainly

Ah, okay! I don't follow every detail of the news. Hopefully the problems will be history soon. Nothing is more worse than seeing and hearing that others suffer.

If I have to choose between those two cities, I would go for Amsterdam. Rotterdam isn't my kind of city at all.

I agree, Rotterdam, from memory, was a bit, erm, industrial - but then I was stuck on a ship miles from town centre 😛

During WWII the center of Rotterdam was heavily damaged by a bombardement. After the war they build cheap and quite ugly buildings to make living and working in Rotterdam possible again. Nowdays a lot of buildings have deferred maintenance because it's too expensive to keep it in shape. Therefor most buildings will be replaced in time for new ones with the newest technology build in.

Wow, I'd Love to visit the Netherlands. So far I've only managed Italy and Cyprus, so I'm not particularly well travelled. However, I'm in the middle of training to be a nurse, so hopefully some day in the not too distant future I'll get to do more!

Hi mikeyboy235, where are you from? Every country has it's nice features. What are yours?

The Netherlands best feature is probably that you can cycle almost everywhere (might take a while to arrive at a far destination).

The best features about England would definitely be the beautiful countrysides, andthe historic buildings. We have some awe inspiring castles etc here! 🙂

The Netherlands is a lot smaller than the UK. Even though we have castles, etc. It's not as large as most estates you have.
