Leechers & edonkey objection

I spent $9 on a hotfile account this month to try it out and by unlimited downloading they mean unlimited. I think I get like 100GB of free premium traffic to share a month so if anyone is interested I can let you try it out by uploading some stuff there for "premium download". I have snatched about a terabyte easily already this month and I still has 2 weeks left before I have to renew.

classical ways of P2P such as Gnutella, Kazaa, eDonkey… are also reliable if you know how to use them. there are couple of sites similar to trackers which collect correct file ID hashes - when you click to download such a link, you can be sure it's the file you are looking for. one of such systems is 'sig2dat'; i used to have an account there in the past…

Is that a free account type service or do you have to pay.

it used to be free and, as far as i know, it still should be. i don't use this service anymore due to low sources. as these systems are almost decentralized, there's just a little chance to get some older stuff you want. but for those who need to build up their ratio, it's a good way to get files this way and then bring them here for reseeding, especially for fresh stuff.
an interesting way of implementation has Shareaza {the clean core only! - there are two Shareaza-s released, one of them is stolen, such a nasty act it was}. it offers sharing torrents separately from other P2P channels {needs to get configured first, Shareaza cares about private passkeys, hence torrent files are disabled in default. also DHT-enabled torrent clients have this option, but due to direct access to private torrents, these are excluded from searching {BitComet doesn't seem to care about them properly}. along with the torrent-share, Shareaza offers even more powerful way to get your stuff. however, i can't suggest it for torrent handling in general, as i didn't test it yet, how it reports transfered ratio to trackers; there's always been the problem with cross-networks clients. when i have some leisure, i will try to test this with a clean account…}

I still use emule which was my first venture in serious p2p.
On emule you still find some really rare stuff and what I like of it is it's simplicity in sharing stuff and the centralised search which are the biggest drawback, for me, of torrents.
I mean with torrents you can't move files, rename them or anything that you have to delete the torrent, recheck it, relocate it and so on.
I had to change an hdd recently and man trying to reseed all my torrents is really just cause I am really into the all sharing spirit but is such a pain in the neck.
Also on emule you have an integrated search engine instead of countless trackers you need to sign on, be invited and so on.Torrents on the other side are more organised so for example of a movie you get all the stats, the thumbs, the covers and so on which is more difficult to do on emule but they have implemented collections and sites similar to trackers for that.
I wish there would be just one single system.

…I wish there would be just one single system.
I don't know if I would want that.
Then it would be like shooting fishing a barrel for these movie & record companies. Porn is not as scrutinized as mainstream music and movies. Gay porn is watched by "the man" even less.
A uniform distribution system for digital content would be the end of sharing communities as we know them.

I thought that could be an objection but they haven't been very successful against any of those systems so far and I doubt they would even if there was a single system.
It's the users who share the files not the application and that has been the general consensus in almost any legal battle anywhere.
Emule servers are taken down constantly and new ones pop up but all they do is index stuff.I would at least like to have a centralised search for all is shared than users go to the appropriate p2p system.
Torrents for sure should make it easier to share stuff cause I have much stuff that I can share with a click on emule but don't even start doing it on torrents cause it's too much hassle and too much time I don't have.
And that's too bad. -
as told before, Shareaza has all these options in it…

I have tried Shareaza but I always found out it wasn't good at any of those options.
For example the same search done in emule and shareaza gave on the latter a fraction of the results. There is MLDonkey that has support for everything, DC++ too, but it's so bloody difficult to set up that I gave it up.
