HHmmm I sense something exciting….

It isn't illegal outside of the U.S. to ask someone's age when they're applying for a job? I mean, in a civilized country, like Germany.
-
It's illegal in the US too, with the exception of age-restricted (18+, 19+, 21+) professions like bar tending, selling firearms and ammunition or adult entertainment.
I think this site qualifies as "adult entertainment"

ok… send everything EXCEPT your age...

-
It's not illegal per se; at least in a "criminal" sense. It's just an element that a plaintiff would use IF s/he sued for age discrimination. Of course, that would mean that this individual would needed to have applied and then been turned down. Additionally, you'll be lucky to find one single attorney in the U.S. who would even bring the suit, because you'd have a hell of a time getting a judge to apply U.S. law (under personal jurisdiction). So bottom line, he'd very likely be fine asking for the age. I wouldn't recommend it unless it was necessary, only because it might run afoul of Germany's laws, which I am not familiar with.

Is this Job posting still valid? I am not qualified for it but it is almost 2 years old and I was wondering if the project is over. If so I would love some more info about it.
…it is all about music...

To be honest, I have no idea about the job in this thread.
I might as well lock and unsticky it.
