I just canceled my trip to Jamaica. Six family members and I were going to Jamaica next month. Time to plan a quick trip somewhere else. I'll probably be better of doing internal tourism here in Puerto Rico and fly my family out here. Pretty sad to hear that about Jamaica

This kind of homophobia seems to be all the rage there nowadays. Browsing through the latest news tells you that most "pop groups" - for lack of a better word - openly belt out - or rather belch out - homophobic songs of the worst kind to the frenetical applause of their audience. Looks like the whole country went nuts. See, what uncontrolled drug abuse can do to people.
There are so many beautiful countries in the world, so skipping one does not hurt at all. If you are looking for an alternative, try Cambodia. Friendly country, friendly people, nice places, terrific food - scnr.
