Stash - full videos
-
@hotmuscletwi My Stash library is fooking huge, and does include some full-length (fnarr fnarr!!) films. Ever so often I'll pick a few and go through them to see if I also have the individual scenes. If I have them all then I can safely delete the long film. I used to use the Groups tab to organise those scenes together so I could play them in sequence as if they were on DVD, but in all honesty it was a bit of a faff and I never watched them that way.
Alternatively you could use the Markers tab and add screne breaks into all your longer films, but I didn't bother for the same reason. What I tend to do now is simply add a "DVD" tag to the movie entries so I can choose to have them appear in a search or not.
There has been talk of Stash.db adding support for full-length films, but at present it's only able to scrape individual scenes rather than movies.

@frostycab Great, thanks for your reply. That makes sense. Now the trick is finding the scenes.

@hotmuscletwi My Stash library is also enormous. For split scenes of a movie I use the gallery feature. For whole movies I have a tag called "movies" just for them. I use both equally between 1500 movies.
If a studio is known for making movies I prefer the to have that (Catalina, Jocks Studios, ...). If a studio is more scene focused, if there is a movie or a multipart series I prefer the group method (MEN, Carnal, ...).
Also, I never used markers so I have no idea how they are supposed to be used.
I am using gayeroticvideoindex.com to get the information of most movies but the GEVI scrapper in stash is not meant to be used for whole movies so I had to "create" my own updated version.
TIP: If you use the "save filter" feature (the bookmark next to the search) to save searches, you can add them to the starting page using the "customize" button at the bottom. I have filters like "New Movies", "New Scenes", "New Solos", "Favorite Studios" etc by including or excluding tags. You can even have a saved filter were the elements were sort by Random, giving you a new set of scenes or performers or whatever any time you see the starting page
Nerd Warning
Technically it is possible to make an external script (using python) to automatically split movies into their scenes using markers if that is what you are asking. If you don't know any code, you can use Claude (better than ChatGPT for this) to write it for you. You first ask it to write a small script in python that prints the database architecture. (the database is stored in Users\YOU\.stash). The script will need to get the information of scenes containing the "split" tag, it will then get the path of the file and the marker timestamps. Then it will use FFmpeg to split the video accordingly and store in the new files in the same path so they can be found by the next scan. I suggest you get comfortable with Visual Studio Code.

@hotmuscletwi Am I a dope? What is Stash? A cloud service?
-
@geauxk It's software that is able to index your entire porn library. It uses perceptual hashing to identify each individual file and is able to compare that to a central online database built by users to match scenes with information such as correct title, performers, tags etc. For those not already identifies it can use scrapers to try to grab that info from other sources, including studios' own websites where available.
It also includes it's own player, so the whole thing is like a one-stop shop for browsing your porn. One of the best things about it is that searching your own library is incredibly fast, so it only takes a moment to see if you already have a scene before accidentally downloading another copy. Being able to search by performer, studio or tags I can find most things quite fast.
Depending on how much detail you want it to generate it can take up a bit of drive space, so be warned, but it's not a deal-breaker at all for me.

wow, tysm for the information. amazed this has existed and i'm just now learning about it. digital organization is so difficult with one hand occupied.
cheers! -
@geauxk Think of it like Plex specifically focused on porn. Another reason to love it is that it's easy to stream. I have my Stash server running on a little N100 mini-PC which uses a trickle of power compared to my main gaming rig. From that I can stream it straight to my iPad to watch in any room. I haven't tried using it away from home because you need to use something like TailScale (whatever that is) in order to do it, but I don't travel much these days.

@frostycab

This is very line-coded software, and I'm still trying to figure out all the capabilities, but those extra features are awesome. I don't even need a continuous stream yet...just something to yank dupes and bring some order into my current Cdrive. -
@geauxk Well, it has it's own duplicate finder, but I actually get rid of mine another way.
It can generate it's own scene cover for every file, so I tend to just pull up a page with 1000 files on it, sorted by duration and then I just scroll through looking for adjacent scenes with the same cover. You can also do it by sorting by phash, but for some reason that doesn't seem to work as well. Any, I just select any dupes and mass-delete them.

I am a Chinese-speaking user and have been using Stash for about 2–3 years.
(≈ 6900 Scenes, 3600 Performers, 7.2TB)
My workflow is as follows:
- Add new scenes to the designated folder.
- Scan for the newly added scenes within Stash.
- Edit the basic metadata for these new scenes (title, release date, performers, tags, synopsis, relevant notes, etc.).
- Open Jellyfin and scrape the metadata—which I just edited in Stash—into Jellyfin.
- Enjoy watching the content via Jellyfin on my iPad or iPhone.
PC
NAS
Stash Docker
Jellyfin Server (installed Jellyfin Plugin Stash)
Swiftfin iOSMy porn stash is endless.

I could jerk myself to death.

May God bless me.
-
@wfyueye I've never used Jellyfin. Can I ask why you prefer that over simply using the built-inn player in Stash?
-
-
Stash can only be installed and used on a personal computer for watching videos, whereas Jellyfin offers dedicated apps for a wide range of devices—and I happen to prefer watching content on my iPad.
-
Stash only provides a landscape-oriented poster wall, while Jellyfin supports a portrait-oriented poster wall.
