People do change their names both legitimately and for other reasons if they are changing genders / trans, drag queens, get married, get divorced, etc. There are many other reasons.

It seems that Facebook, Instagram, and Threads and other apps all have slightly different policies about that which is annoying and dangerous. They seem to link to Google and sometimes Youtube even though they are not supposed to be teamed up with "Meta".

Even worse, there are platforms in which you cannot remove your posts! Once you post them, they are there forever. So if you have a boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. Your new boyfriend, girlfriend, wife, husband can see that shit forever! I have told thousands of people NEVER use your real name online! They usually don't agree with my warning. It's not unlike a young person getting a tattoo with a name on it.. and then 2 years later, that name no longer has any meaning to them - for the rest of their LIVES! One guy would get a tattoo of someone's name on him everytime one of them passed away. The guy is a walking cemetary!
