I noticed that 'stalled' downloads are also counted as downloads. Why? They are stalled because there are no seeders....

Download will count active as soon as it starts finding peers [regardless of being stalled or non-seeder]
        excludes queued and failure/unregistered torrent,
it will cleared once syncing is done ...

Bad Ratio warning or too many torrents running ...
Is how the system was set on this to prevent or to avoid conflict on exceeded download limit ...
[And the rest will queued once the process is done]

You can test this out on Freeleech ...
Grab 13 torrents under 100 Mb each and run all @ once, to do this [make sure that there are no other active download]
check the 13 torrent that stuck on finding peers you will see the Bad Ratio warning execution on tracker ...

@john32123666 Let me see if I understand you.
Let's say I have 20 stalled torrents and 0 active downloads. My limit is 15 at the same time. So to be able to download a new torrent, I must pause or remove 6 stalled torrents?

And what you say about peers, they're not even involved in the download process, so I find this really weird.

But what exactly is the objection to unlimited downloading? I can't even think of whose disadvantage this is. Don't we already have a ratio to ensure that people don't download without also uploading?

@yepyep7891 People with good ratio's shouldn't be punished.

@yepyep7891 to make it simple ...

                • download and complete one torrent @ one time before jumping into another, to free your slot ...
running too many torrent will trigger a bad ratio warning
                  ...

[œùæ] : " Mahirap mag dunong dunongan, Kung wala kang kaalam alam " ...

Maybe this will help someone, 'cause I've been struggling with the same issue. For me these download slots were occupied by torrents from which I have selected only certain files to be downloaded (eg. from packs, collections).
I am not sure this is intended behavior, but in this case the torrents appear completed in my client and still they are counted as incomplete on the website (see user details page and click on "Show leeching torrents" to see which torrents wrongfully occupy these slots).

@chess-0 That is a coincidence! I have raised the issue you mentioned in a new thread.

Just ran into the same issue of it thinking I'm downloading a 100 files at once. I've marked all of my torrents as completed except the one I'm actually trying to download but it's still insisting my ratio is an issue.

Sorry to quote such an old comment, but since this thread has been revived I wanted to point something out.

Peers are absolutely involved in the download process. I have managed to finish downloads in the past without ever actually connecting to the seeder. If you are connected to peers who have a enough parts to constitute a full copy then you are able to get the whole file from them. If peers played no part in the download process then why would you see upload traffic on a torrent that you're downloading?

Just wanted to say that I was also having the same issue as @chess-0 and your post helped confirmed that I had the same issue. I've removed all these "leeching" torrents from my transfer list and now I can download again. Thanks again to you both.

I'm having this same issue, so I removed a few leeching torrents from my client but they're still occupying space on the website, even after I shut down qBittorent completely
