My uploads keep getting taken down

@looselips older it's not a thing to have DMCA agents manually searching for specific titles, that means older torrents are somewhat safer than new ones in this regard. Newer torrents are more likely to get removed because they are monitored by bots.
I really hope people don't get upset when their torrent is taken down and a different iteration of the same material is not, as frustrating as it might be.
The big bummer to me is that this might discourage people from uploading so we'll be having less and less content available as older torrents tend to die after a while.

Another hot take: I think the rule for restricting users from uploading for getting DMCA'ed should be low-key removed, just let people try to contribute without being penalized for doing what everyone is here to do.
-
@MrMazda I'm keeping an eye on it, see for how long it will last. Also, I really want to know if these web crawlers, agents or whatever checks for English language only.
-
@ianfontinell I like that idea.

@Rotron Did he get banned for uploading another DMCA'd title? Will that get you banned in the forum too?
-
@Rotron Sadly, I have no information on how the process works, so I really couldn't say for sure.

(1) One data point: I've had several torrents taken down for copyright reasons, sometimes a couple of them in a single month, and I'm still here.
(2) I could understand that somebody could be banned if they keep reuploading something that gets taken down.
(3) I can understand the site needing to have a rule saying, "Please don't share copyrighted material."
(4) I can very much understand the site not wanting so say, "we have rule (3) above, but we don't enforce it."

@eobox91103 Right! We all know though why we are all here and these very materials are the very soul of a torrent site. We are just having security and privacy issues the we are all hoping gets fixed so that GayTor can get back into being "private" and not Google searchable.

omg poor guy was banned, F
-
@ianfontinell Well, when one chooses a user name like looselips, seems like the future is foretold.
-
@flozen Also, when you make too many requests in the forum, eventually you do get banned for breaking the rules. Some bans are temporary (for a set period of time), while others are permanent, depending on a few factors, not the least of which is how many times you have violated the rule previously.
-
@ianfontinell what penalties? I don't see any guidelines about this... I've had a dozen removed over a couple months, so what is the threshold then? if there is one and why would there be? It's arbitrary and I don't know whether it will be taken down or not as it's inconsistent.

@vanman There are two areas that apply.... There's the forum, and then there's the rest of the site like in torrent comments. In the forum, the first offence is a warning and a temporary ban. The second offence I believe is also a warning and a temporary (but longer) ban.
In somewhere like the torrent comments, there's a 4 strike rule. The first time, you get a 1 day system warning. The second time you get a 3 day system warning. The third time you get a 7 day system warning. Finally, on the fourth time, you get a perma-ban
