@Damainedavis you might be, it's hard to say for sure. Check the torrent page and see if it has seeders. If it have only one or two, it is normal for the torrent to take hours or even days to even start downloading.

If it has a decent amount of seeders and you still can't download it, try a different client such as qbittorrent. If the problem persist it might be a misconfigured firewall setting, but honestly that's the least likely possibility.

@Damainedavis Most likely this is related to the fact that your download rights have been taken due to having a low ratio. When this happens, you can only download ONE FREELEECH torrent at a time. The ones you are trying to download likely aren't freeleech, which is why you're likely getting a tracker error saying that your download rights have been taken.

@Damainedavis Like MrMazda said, you have to stick with something that is Freeleech to get your ratio back up. This is common practice on many torrent sites.

Only ONE Freeleech torrent at a time...grab one (I'd suggest sticking with Freeleech torrents that don't have a lot of seeders on it, which could override your leeching), and start seeding back on it to start boosting your ratio back up. Then move onto a different Freeleech torrent...but DON'T try to overload your upload ability or you could slow down your uploading speed. I'd suggest sticking with uploading two torrents at most (unless you have a good, fast upload speed).

Correction...I meant stick with Freeleech torrents that DON'T have a lot of seeders, because when you start to seed back on it, too many other seeders (especially ones who may have a faster connection than you) could override your seeding speed and you may not be able to seed back as much or as fast.
