I suspect that most of the newcomers here have experienced similar problems. There's such an amazing quantity of material here, it's just an overwhelming temptation to download everything that looks good. And if you're downloading some of the stuff that's been on the site for years, it can be really tough to give back.
Once you've been around a little while and you're really only looking at the newer stuff on a regular basis, it becomes much easier to maintain a good ratio.

Thank you very much to all of you who replied to my help request with such kind and explicative answers. Just to make sure that I have properly understood: the pic shows my torrent app screen. Does it mean I am seeding, i.e., sharing my files? If yes, should I keep the app running (i.e., my pc on) as long as possible? But what if no user download from me? Does seeding count even if nobody download things from me? Because clearly I have no control nor responsibility over that... thank you again!

@Kowmei Yes its seeding ... However you are not able to see and manage upload w/o peers connected ...

@Kowmei ...K, you're fine, the Forum could use as much positive participation as it can get. The introductions are sometimes just "hellos," but posters soon gave you some helpful info re: ratio, seeding, etc..
