Scotland - Green MSPs looking for people who 'self define' as disabled to apply for job

If you want your disability welfare, you have to register with the state. That's how it works in the UK.
BTW, I'm blind today, not sure how I'll self identify tomorrow or even later today.

Not everyone with a disability needs a welfare check!
Some of us with a disability manage just fine WITHOUT being on the dole, thank you very much!
Nevertheless, my employers want to know if I have a disability - for at least 2 reasons:
1 - so they can make accommodations, if needed, and
2 - the Gov't insists that they report on numbers of disabled people that they employNot ALL disabilities are alike, and you don't have to be missing appendages to be considered someone with a disability. For example:
- Someone with MS (even in remission) has a disability (by US standards, anyway)
- Someone with HIV (even POZ-Undetectable) has a disability
- Someone with an IQ under 80 (@raphjd?) has a disability (again, under US law)...
Just to "close the loop" here - I'm joking about @raphjd having an IQ of 80... I have no idea what is IQ might be... VERY intelligent people can be gullible too!

In the UK, if you don't qualify for disability welfare, you are not deemed to be disabled.
There can be some overlap, like say for flu shots where disabled and "at risk" people get the shots for free.
Being "at risk" means you have a serious health condition, but it does not mean you are disabled because of it.
BTW, I now self identify as a triple amputee, with a gamy leg.
