can't help but think of this photo when i see matt walsh content

I don't know the context of the photo (or even the overall discussion), but the picture reminds me of a Zoom meeting a couple of weeks ago when one of our younger associates stood up with his laptop camera on. It was a very pleasant view, but I wasn't able to hit "print screen" quickly enough. Damn....

        @eobox91103

The photo looks like Matt Walsh but isn't him.

The 2nd tweet is talking about Bruce Jenner vs Caitlyn Jenner.

Being trans and being homosexual are not the same thing. Trans persons are a minority so small that they have to become part of a larger group to get any respect.

You really think that the trans community encompasses all of homosexuality?

You silly fool (and I do not use the term loosely):

              • L - Lesbian (as in homosexual female)
              • G - Gay (as in homosexual male)
              • B - Bisexual (male or female)
              • T - Transexual (or Transgender - depending on who you ask)
              • Q - Questioning

You, my dear queer, are a transphobe... sad, but you've proven it!

In the modern sense, Q means Queer.

As for the rest of your post, I don't get your point other than to call someone else names because they disagree with you.

Prior to TikTok where everything is labeled as "trans", real trans people made up an extremely small percentage of the population.

It started out as being refered to as Gay then women wants their own label and it became Gay & Lesbian after that all the smaller "gay adjacent" groups wanted to be represented and it became LGBT. and so on and so on until we get to where it is today. A bunch of letters people use to virtue signal each other.

None of that takes anything away from me being an out gay man for over 30 years.

So, you agree that there are gay men, and I presume that you also agree that there are gay women (lesbians)... but you question the existence of trans?
Do you also question the existence of bisexuals?
What about Queer/Questioning or any other non-conforming "group"?

It seems to me that the only reason you believe that gay men actually exist is because you are one... for everyone else, if they don't fit into one of your "perfectly well organized world order" of labels, then they couldn't possibly exist!

                    That is folly and foolishness...

Trans people exist, whether you believe in them or not - and your insistence that they are "not real" is part of the definition of being transphobic!

For what it's worth, your attempt to re-label other people is also folly and foolishness! Why, you've looked "a little too long" at a naked woman or two - perhaps you're not really "gay", just a straight man who is too coward to approach a woman?

Balderdash! If you claim you're gay, I have no right to place a different label on your sexual orientation - and likewise, you have no right to refuse to accept or acknowledge the self-appointed sexual-orientation labels others choose for themselves!

Again you miss the point. Are you sure English is your first language. I admit to having spelling issues but you have comprehension issues that need to be addressed.

I admit that those very small self identified groups exist. They had such a small political presence they needed to attach their identity to the Gay movement. The Gay movement was happy to have them. The larger the group the more political power.

In regard to your inquire of my sexual orientation. It is a free country attempt to disparage me all you want. I have the right to keep my sexual history to myself.

I think it is you who are having issues with conceptualizing what's being said: I could truly not care less about a topic than I do about your personal situation - sexually or otherwise. While I don't wish you any ill-will, it truly does not enter my thought processes (without your injecting it there) at all... and I made it clear in my post above, that it would not be right of me to attempt to label you or your sexuality.

My point - clear, I suspect, to others if not to you - was that YOU similarly have no right to assign (or attack) those labels when self-assigned by others.

Trans people are a sexual-orientation minority legitimately, and not just a "fringe group" that's "hanging on for the ride"... their numbers, when not forced to be closeted, are - I suspect - somewhat higher than you would believe.

That said, getting back to the points:

                        • Matt Walsh (and @geobear40) should be allowed to be trans-phobic (the argument as to whether you fit that label notwithstanding). I appreciate their willingness to express their views, as it provides ME information - for example, I will no longer be tempted to read anything else from Matt Walsh regarding human or minority rights, given that he has already proven and professed his complete ignorance on the issue.
                        • Twitter should not be "so quick to judge," IMHO. Specifically, his account should not have been suspended for these tweets... stupidity is annoying, and sometimes offensive - but it is not illegal!
                        • Twitter is within their rights to suspend any account they want to, for any reason... they are not a public accommodation, they are a private company providing a very specific service... albeit to a wide audience, but nevertheless, they do not meet the criteria for being a public accommodation, and thus legal protections for potential clients do not really exist.

Transexual is not a sexual orientation as it is a state of mind about their body, not who they want to fuck.

Caitlyn Jenner is a lesbian, Blair White and Rose of Dawn are heterosexuals. Skylar is bi.

My apologies for not including @raphjd in the list of transphobic people mentioned in this thread....

Sexual Orientation applies just as much to what gender you ARE, as to what gender you ARE ATTRACTED TO...

If you believed that homosexuality was just a "state of mind", you'd be a homophobe...

If the shoe fits, wear it!

Unless you are embarrassed by your position, you should OWN the label transphobe!

But I do agree that in sports and many other areas that are dependent on genetics differentiating male from female,

I have a complex and nuanced position, and am generally lean conservative.

While it is true that having higher levels of male hormones during development can lead to increased heart size, bone and muscle density, the same can be also said about environmental conditions, say east Africans in long distance running. Sports isn't objectively fair, so I'm open to that discussion which must include cis women, as well as trans, speaking openly and freely.

I think it's important we be allowed a rational debate, which some on the woke left refuse to allow, while some on the right are using trans rights as a new front after losing the culture war on gay and lesbian rights to attack trans people on several fronts, this is unhealthy for society at large.

The irony is that feminists tried and won the right to take over male spaces, but are now butthurt that trans women are taking over female spaces.

@raphjd Women, racial minorities, and LGBTQ winning equal rights is a natural progression and inevitable outcomes of liberal democratic systems rooted in the enlightenment. Communism, Nationalist autocracies, theocratic Islamism, Fascism haven't proven remotely as durable, economically dynamic, or more stable.

liberal democratic = socially liberal ideas (this is the healthy kind)

Liberal democratic = progressive/communistic power dictates (This is the kind that will destroy Democracy)

@geobear40 Gay rights, civil rights for black people, women's rights, mass consumerism, the decline or religion, are a natural outcome of Liberalism and the beliefs the Founding Father's and later Western European democracies adopted.

The right seeing progressives as communists, or the left seeing the right as fascists, kind of misses the mark, and is more a sign of increased polarization, and economic disparities.
