I notice that about 40% of the people who use Utorrent as their torrent client, are using the TEN YEAR OLD VERSION of 2.2.1

Trust me, they will never fix the problems with Utorrent, so you are going to be using version 2.2.1 forever.. UNLESS you find a better client. Well, I'm happy to say, that there IS a better torrent client. It's Qbittorrent 4.4.1 and is up to date, and a true 64 bit application. It uses about 35% of the the amount of cpu resources and 20% of the memory that Utorrent does... and it doesn't freeze or crash or have overloads or lose files the way Utorrent does.

I started with qbittorrent and honestly I feel As if both of the programs are competing with each other because sometimes one will work and one will start lagging. So basically I alternate between both of them..

Yes, this is the problem in a nutshell. New Utorrent is certain to freeze on me, though the freeze is slightly delayed if I reduce the # of active torrents or delete torrents altogether. As I'm more of a seeder than an uploader, this prevents me from "paying it back" with as much gusto as I'd like. Out of frustration, I have stopped waiting for the Error Reports to be sent (Utorrent already has 100 or so of mine -- assuming that the function works!).

While I am using the free U version, as I suspect many are, it's infuriating that this product has actually been "updated" into an unusable state. I can't see how a broken free version would incent users to upgrade to the pay version, or to any other products it might offer in future.

I appreciate lolo's review of Q and will give it a try soon.

@flozen One of the most frustrating things about Utorrent is that there doesn't seem to be anybody paying attention to anything. For instance, there is a 1 bit change that can be done to Utorrent which allows it to access an additional 4GB of RAM, but they don't use it.. It's called LAA or Large Address Aware.

@cash0uttt I would not say they compete with each other.
I have yet to have a lag with Qbittorrent, however Utorrent has a LOT of lag, and when Utorrent lags, it makes the entire computer lag because it's gorging itself on all your memory and CPU resources.
