There's no way to narrow it down to just one…

Christian Death - Only Theatre of Pain
Cocteau Twins - Blue Bell Knoll (yeah, yeah...)
Subhumans - From the Cradle to the Grave
The Smiths - I own practically everything of theirs (not including EP's/singles) on numerous formats
        Kate Bush - The Dreaming
        Rudimentary Peni - Cacophony
        Slowdive - Souvlaki

There's more I can't think of right now, I assure you.

This was harder than I thought, and impossible for me to come up with just one!

Even then, I had to set a couple of qualifiers–one is this is based on the ratio of like to dislike of an album’s total number of tracks. I’ve purchased countless albums that I love solely for one particular track (and have yet to listen to the whole album in most of the cases).

The other thing to note is although I really didn’t want to consider “greatest hits” and “anthology” type albums, I felt compelled to mention the two such albums I selected as an addendum to my list.

So, my “Top 5” (plus one) by date of release…

Gunfighter Ballads & Trail Songs (1959) Marty Robbins
The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) Pink Floyd
            Bella Donna (1981) Stevie Nicks
Jesse Johnson’s Revue (1985) Jesse Johnson
            The Chronic (1992) Dr. Dre
            2001 (1999) Dr. Dre

            The compilations…

Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) (1976) Eagles
            Greatest Hits (1998) 2Pac

After a brief think, kept coming back to Simon and Garfunkles 'Bridge Over Troubled Waters'. Every track a gem, brilliant and the title song still in my top 5

Placebo - Without You I'm Nothing
I remember buying the CD in the early 2000s and i still think it's interesting or maybe the best… considering that I don't remember much from that era

                  SemenDemon that's a fantastic list

The best album I have ever bought is Kate Bush "Hounds Of Love". This in my opinion is her "Masterpiece". Even 30 years later, the album still holds up.

Nice to see I am not the only Kate Bush fan in here but I cannot choose between Hounds of Love and The Dreaming as my favorite album ever.

Toss up between Modest Mouse's Building Nothing Out of Something EP and Modest Mouse's Moon and Antarctica album.

Yaasss; such an amazing album. Fever Ray is great too!

For me personally it's a toss up between Bjork's Homogenic and Joanna Newsom's Milkeyed Mender.
