Do most men shave their chests these days (whereas the ideal used to be a hairy chest), or are most male torsos naturally hairless?**

I do see all the models and actors on screen prefer to shave their chest. It almost looks similar or clones.
I have a hairy chest and I prefer it that way so I never shave my chest. -

Even your example of a hairy chest does not look natural at all because the hair has been heavily groomed and trimmed.
Slightly off-topic, here's a young man with not much body hair in general but a cute ass with plenty of untrimmed, light-colored hair. He starts showing it off at the six minute mark.

I like it shaved and smoth for my partner or for any guy (mine is like that, as well).

It depends on the media you consume or the social groups you belong to.
Rather than a shaved chest there is a return for trimmed/groomed chest, not the natural bush but a more stylized choice for it.
