Which of the two symbols do you identify more with? The happy colored, optimistic rainbow OR the more strong, fighting spirit pink triangle?

For me it would be the pink triangle. Not that I don't identify with the rainbow too, it's just that I still believe that the gay community, or queer community in general, is (or at least should be) not only about partying and celebrations of queer identity, but also about fighting for equal rights and changing the world one step at a time.

        Why not both?

You have to admit that the 'rainbow' (because afaik, not all of the colors featured are those of a rainbow) is the most known globally (to the point a milk carton with a farmer and a rainbow was banned in Russia)

On the other hand the inverted triangle aludes to the Holocaust and could be viewed as taking a symbol of pain and dark days and then turning it around into something positive.  :hug2:

Maybe a rainbow colored, inverted triangle?…Wait I think we already have those...but as souvenir merchandise.  :afr:

Of course, I never said I like only one of them, they are both great and also important!
I just like the pink triangle more since it symbolizes and honors a side of the queer community that we often forget about: the history. And by "history" I mean the riots and the fights of the past, as well as all the individuals that died for us to be here today, safe and happy and proud while waving our rainbows at a gay pride! They shall never be forgotten.

As for alternatives, I have seen both the rainbow colored triangle that you mentioned, as well as flags that include both the rainbow and the pink triangle. Those are a great option in my opinion since it honors both the past and the present (and why not the future too?) 🙂 🙂

I think the combination of both is a great message itself.
Fight, pride and diversity, is a wider significance.
In special when we live in a world where these symbols can be only gay-centered, but sexuality is way more abrangent.
All united by a common fight.

I think we need both images, whether combined or separate.  Persecution (to the point of imprisonment, if not execution) was the norm almost everywhere little over fifty years ago, and still exists today in many places.

Many folk today take marriage equality and Grindr for granted, not realizing that even a visit to a gay bar used to land people in jail and public humiliation.  It's helpful for everyone to review a documentary made in the US in 1967, "The Homosexuals," on here at https://www.gaytor.rent/details.php?id=948777ed0f9ce1aa3f627acd8bc2072ff297e1ac3f2a209a .

I prefer the pink triangle, it has sentimental meaning. It represents an era of my life. That pink triangle is a loaded symbol, and I think it's a shame that most younger LGBTQ people can't even begin to understand history that pink triangle represents.

                  I live in Brazil.
We don't have marriage equality and our president is an homophobic Hitler wannabe.
You may have listened his name: Bolsonaro.
Trump almost take coronavirus from him when they met.

                    (I liked your blog.)

I'm 27 yo and I understand the meaning and history of pink triangle.
I think younger people must learn about our movement history to understand how we get here.
Because things are better, but far from perfection.

I hate the newer versions of the rainbow flag.  Everyone is trying to take it over for their own agenda.

There are just too many damn colors, and too many damn acronyms. It's starting to get really stupid. When I was growing up, we absolutely no time to worry about all that bullshit! We were busy running for our fucking lives! This new breed of gays don't know how good they have it. They need to focus on more serious shit, like preventing murders of trans people every month, instead of a fucking bullshit color.

What are the discussions about colors in USA?
