    Voting inconsistency in US Election?

      Why there are instances where a state would vote for a party in the Presidency, while voting for the other party in the House or the Senate?
      it seems logical that if you vote Republican for exmple for the Presidency, you'd vode Republican for the House and the Senate? and vice versa.

        I'm not sure why it happens but I know Illinois does this at the state level quite often.  When it happens, it's always a Repub governor and Dem state Congress.

        It might be about checks and balances and not letting one party run amuck.

          That is what happens in Massachusetts.  We have an almost entirely Democrat legislature and we usually have a Republican Governor.  Our current Republican Governor was recently named the most popular Governor in the country….whatever that means and he is likely going to win a second term in November..
