What meds are you taking now to tackle depression and anxiety?
-
I don't take meds, I suffered with depression in the past and I didn't want to take tablets for the rest of my life. I worked with my doctor to find a solution.
I go to the gym, I go running. Exercise is important and I found it helped a lot, when I was depressed I forced myself to go for a run or hit the gym and felt miles better after. (At the start I had help from friends and family who would get me out, some days I didnt even want to get out of bed) I also read up on something called "Mindfulness" which is all about perspective. These two combined has meant Ive not suffered with depression since starting that journey.

None. Did like Matt said and started working out and running.
Drugs (all drugs) don't work properly on me for some reason, my system is odd. I did a line of coke at work once from a co-worker to get a project finished. Just once and I didn't stop going for almost 72 hours.Never tried it again.
Zoloft has the same affects on me. One 50 mg pill and I am wired for 2 days but then I crash.Working out just makes things so much nicer.

I honestly just working out or meditate(just sit down, close your eyes, clear thoughts and breathe slowly).

I am on an entire cocktail combination. The major players for my mental health are citalopram for the depression, and risparidal (risparidone) for the parts that the anti-depressant alone does not touch. In my case, this combination really works wonders.
In all truth though, between the depression, complex PTSD, ADHD, HIV, and bi-polar, I'm literally a walking pharmacy. I'm not on nearly as many meds or as many times a day as I used to be, but it's still a bushel to say the least.

citalopram for the depression
you should definitely try Escitalopram instead of Citalopram, it's a "revised version", it uses only enantiomer S (the one that makes the benefit effect) instead of a mix of enantiomer in citalopram which makes it more powerful. Sides effects are unchanged. ( I 've had both among many others ).

Interesting… I'll have to look into it and see if my government benefits package will cover it. They're a little sticky sometimes about what all they'll cover.

Listening to music that I like motivates me to do my work. I guess we must ask ourselves what have worked in the past and try to fix it ourselves most of the times

I have a social anxiety disorder . I dont take meds anymore , i took them for about 8 years. I then started a therapy for analysis. This took 4 years in a group therapy which i had once a week for 1,5 hours. It was good practice and helped me alot. i still have anxiety but it isnt as bad as it used to be and i no longer need to take meds. There are good new therapy methods out there. So there is hope.
