āAll About Loveā - Maurice White (1941-2016)
āā¦you are as beautiful as your thoughtsā¦and if there aināt no beauty, you got to make some beautyā¦āāāAll About Loveā
Over the many years of many hits--from Thatās the Way of the World (1975), and Head to the Sky (1973)āāAll About Loveā and āKeep Your Head to the Skyā have always been at the top of a long list of my favorite recordings by Earth, Wind & Fire, ever since hearing them for the first timeā¦almost 45 years ago!
A decade later, during my junior year at Cal, I saw them at what was then the Oakland Coliseum. Without a doubt, it was one of the best concerts Iāve ever seen--with solid performances all around, great special effects and props, plus bits of āmagicā tossed in throughout the show!
I was surprised recently to find Maurice White on an obituary list of notables, and a little more bummed today for some reason, after seeing it mentioned again.

Rolling Stoneā¦
Songs that bring on a feeling of melancholy with nostalgic memories of high school dances and house partiesāhearing them right now, thereās sadness as well with the loss of Maurice White āā¦in peaceā (1941-2016)

āAll About Loveāā¦
āKeep Your Head to the Skyāā¦
His passing was definitely a surprise. As far as "too soon" goesāas I get older and see those I grew up with pass away with more frequency, and those dearest to me--Bobby and my mom at 79 and 80...yes, 74 is way too soon!
